A better question is: If a friend is exposed in the EB, and the evidence is insurmountable would you still defend them? If the evidence is so great that you find thinking up a defense difficult would you still defend them? Would you come to their aid? To call yourself a friend merely because you won't expose another is phony; the question that should be asked is: would you defend a friend in need, or would you leave one hanging? I believe a true friend is one who will help a friend in need. A true friend is one that will keep their friend on the right side of the track. A true friend would never have to defend a friend in a case of trouble because a true friend would keep a friend out of harms way. A true friend does not lay a blind eye to mischief.
In short: I would never have to expose a friend as I would convince a friend to quit or play Legit. If exposing one as illegitimate is a necessary perquisite to legitimacy [edit*] then I will let them fry when they're exposed. Would I expose them? Probably.
[edit*]Voted yes. [edit*] This:

but if he/she continues to cause mischief/boast about his way or remain a hypocrite, then i would expose them.
it really depends on how my friend 'acts'. if he does bot and keeps a low profile, i wouldn't care about exposing him. but if he/she continues to cause mischief/boast about his way or remain a hypocrite, then i would expose them.
but then again it depends on who you are talking about. there are only a few, few people on sro that i know that i wouldn't expose.

No, I know alot of botters on forum, and I didnt report anyone.
why not? if there was a pedo living in ur neighborhood wouldnt u want other parents to know?
Real life =/= game forum.
why not? would u like it (being a legit) to see every part of these forums flooded with topics about botting, where to find bots, bot this, bot that..?

When that starts to happen, I'll report them... Its not of my buissness to report someone on this forum... Why would I waste my time?

The one who I know are doing nothing wrong on forum ... The "omg loader in your picture" / "omg no yellow boxes" / "you filthy botter - I know you botted" are the one who should be banned ... and if I find the botter that does that, I'll report him with pleasure.

It's bot support, or supposed to be on this forum. I'm curious about the offical stand point. If they apply the "Venus true legit guidelines" all players supporting friends will get a ban.
omg so if i had a friend on venus i really enjoyed talking with and bots, i would have to choose between a legit guild or being friends wih them. Thats F***ed up.
That's actually not true, Venus discourages PARTYING with bots not talking to them. It's your choice who you talk to. Taelys just has some problem with Venus and brings it up in every thread.
As for turning in a friend, hell no... But the Exposed Botters section sure cleaned up the forum, their was a time bots happily laughed in legits faces on this forum. But I must admit there's a few people who have suffered bans I'd like to see back. TwelveEleven etc.
Last time I checked the avalon rules one of them was to not talk or associate with any botter.. dunno if that's changed as I don't remember the url

The thing I find funny/ironic is a players needing to justify their own legitimacy in controlling what other people do, if this is the stance you take on all aspects of your life you will find out in no time that your destined for a lonely life, because this is the internet people need to be e-tough and don’t tell me that you would report anyone that does something wrong here’s some examples….
1. You find out your parents reported a tax deduction they shouldn’t have, do you call the IRS on them? 2. One of your relatives drove home last night after having a couple too many to drink, do you report him to the cops? 3. Your closest friend lies to the teacher, do you tattle on him?
If you can honestly say that you never have done anything that isn’t right I would call you a liar.
You may flame me all you want for this comment but being 16 has a lot to do with it Bob, one day you’ll realize that the world isn’t fairy tail land like you parents told you.
Like I have said before and will always say about this game I don’t care how you want to play this game, I will play it my way and you can play it however you would like, yes our way of play may be same/different but I don’t make a way of life out of it and especially taking into consideration that his is owned and managed by a company that support silk buying bots and released items for them. Can you honestly say that when they released the premium + that it was designed for hand grind 5 hours a day/ 35 hours a week? That is ridiculous if you spend 35 hours a week playing SRO, and for those reason I will never support a bot supporting company especially one that showed their true colors last week by unbanning the bots that they banned on accident.

I agree with you, people go tend to get way too crazy with the accusations on this forum.

+1 tbh, I know so many people who bot and if I were to convince them all to go legit I'd have a dayjob on my hands. I wouldn't know where to start either. Everyone's got an excuse for themselves that, to them, justifies why they do it. Try and get that out of their heads is like telling people who own a buspass to get to work to drop it and walk instead. They will not do it.
I just accept that they choose to play this game differently, that doesn't mean I can't enjoy it the way I play it. As long as they let me play as I see fit, I won't keep telling them off. They know my stance on botting, they understood me the first time I said it so there's really no point in repeating myself. I'd just be losing friends over it.

long version
Spoiler!
I think you misunderstood my post and then went on arguing based on what you perceived to be a flawed statement. My post is sound, I will further elaborate.
The post in question is: "[...] If exposing one as illegitimate is a necessary perquisite to legitimacy [...]" Now, If you have been here long enough (lurked) you would understand my pattern of posting and why that statement is justified in the sense that I am not validating my legitimacy, but rather I am aiding in turning the illegitimate one legitimate. "If exposing one [...]"
Who is "one?" Well, one can apply to a number of people but when I use one it applies to others excluding myself. I use one to prevent flame wars. If you have noticed when people use (pro)nouns like, "you, her, I, he, she" [etc] they tend to provoke an unintended response from others. In regards to your offline examples you must pay attention to the circumstance and context of the scenario.

1.I believe the income tax to be unConstitutional thus reporting such a thing would go against my principles. 2.The only person he/she is damaging is him(her)self rather I would "convince a friend to quit or play Legit." He(she) is putting him(her)self and others at risk when he(she) drives while under the influence of alcohol. [Do you see why I use one now?] The power of persuasion goes a long way, Shadow. 3.My closest friend cheating or lieing will hurt him; the only option in such a situation is to act as a friend and offer aid [why did you lie? why did you cheat? lieing and(or) cheating only hurts you. I'm more than willing to tutor you {etc}]. It appears you completely ignored initial paragraphs.

There are many ways to deal with mischievous behavior. Assumptions can only get one so far.
tl:dr, your straw man argument is invalid [because] it ignores context, circumstance, individual personality, ideology, principles, ethics, morals [etc]. You also dragged age into your equation, odd.
I know a few who I am 100% sure bot. However, as long as they don't go boasting about botting and start causing trouble then I'm not gonna expose them. Though, unfortunatly because of traffic I can't, but all the babel hoes who I know bot, I would take down fast as hell. They were a pain in the balls for 2 years for me.
not a chance, seems as though the srf witchhunt has failed.
It hasn't failed. It's merely not had the desired effect that the Mod's hoped it would. Meaning, that there are still a few botters here who people won't rat out because those people are their "friends". Which I understand 100%.
