100% agree, the game is a grind and if a player can't handle it then why try to play it at all.

EXACTLY! I don't play golf, mostly because I don't see the point in hitting a ball hundreds of yards away just to chase after it, hit it again, chase it, hit it again... just to get it in a tiny hole in the end, then take it out and hit it again. It'd be more interesting if there was a full NFL-style defensive line ready to pound you into the ground as soon as you start your swing, but that's not how the game was designed.

If you're bored playing a game the way it was built/designed, don't play.

Off topic: You should go play a round, it's a LOT more complicated then that. Also takes way more skill than pounding someone into the ground. I'd say people play it because of the extensive practice and persistence it takes to master it. :)

On Topic: Go outside.

Well I realize golf is more complicated than just hitting a ball, chasing it, and hitting it again until it drops into a tiny cup. You have to know how to aim, how to hit the ball properly, what club to use for your situation (are you in sand, water, tall grass, how far to the hole?...) but in the end you're still just hitting a ball, moving to where the ball landed, hitting it again....

My point was, golf doesn't appeal to me, so I don't play it. I don't attempt to change the game to suit me. Same with SRO. It's meant to be a grind. If people can't accept that, and just decide to follow people on horses all day, then perhaps they shouldn't play.

I'll go outside once the weather warms up enough for my daughters to be able to go outside and not get themselves sick. They're a bit too young to be out in the freezing temperatures. :-P

Well if that’s the case, id assume youd press the buttons between "`" and "-" for skills and f1-f4 to change quickbars if needed. What else CAN one do if they are plvling someone?

Now if he means what do you do when RECEIVING plvl?? Then I don’t know watch tv and check to make sure you havent been lured on or something.

Why do you have to attack him for getting powerleveled? It's a choice he made, just like others make the choice not to. But to answer your question, you could bake a cake, or go deep sea diving, or hunt an endangered species... Please not the last one LOL. Point being you can do whatever, I play other games or watch movies mostly.

Wow, you people for attacking powerleveling, seriously go die in a hole.

Fcking bitter b1tches can't get a good power level, ooh boo hoo, "fundamental" this, "grind is how its ment" that, etc.

If you CAN do something in a game and it's not punishable ( interpret that however you want, silkroad is silkroad ) THEN ITS LEGIT, AND DO IT!

I have to agree. If it's an implement into the game why should it be looked down on. People get plvled for different reasons. Test a characters skills without really wanting to play it, test a build, get to a certain lvl to test a single skill etc. Jackal always plvled me to help me catch up to him. He enjoyed it and was never bored, he was the first to offer, I never asked. It was boring however and I really didn't enjoy the game until I was able to kill the same mobs and be in a party with him. I would plvl his test Euro's, he wanted to see what some skills were like. I would work on his sigs, Kokiri forums or other sro related things while he would plvl me but often I'd stay there and talk with him. Back then I was not playing sro for fun and jollies, I was only playing it to spend time with him.

Pfft, Cell you should know by know every Australian has a pet Kangaroo and those things will fuck your shit up. :P

EDIT:

Although I have absolutely nothing against people being powerlvled by friends and what not, I'm guilty of powering lvling more then my share of alts both mine and of my friends, but I do have to disagree with this " it's implemented into the game for it to be used". It's really more or less "abused"-- the system is like this so exp is distributed evenly among the party because everyone, theoretically, should be pulling their own weight in the party-what ever their class being. Powerleveling was just an unfortunate child to be born from this flawed system. If you really thing about it powerleveling shouldn't really exist, it's just that for every person who is willing to put in the time to lvl there will be someone to lazy to do it and rather just skip through it.

The ppl are attacking the topic starter, because he typed PowerlevelING instead of PowerlevelED. And the firts one goes for the guy who makes the taxi, not the one who is in the taxi. So it looks a little strange to be able to do anything exept fightng if you are powerlevelING.
On-topic: Most of the time i play games on facebook, browse SRF or go to do some housework... and check if i'm alive from time to time.

While I can agree that it is not against the TOS to power level, or to be power leveled, and therefore technically legit, I still feel the whole power leveling thing is helping to ruin the game as a whole.

If power leveling didn't exist, you'd have a variety of players at all levels from 1 to 90 (a majority from 20 to 60 or so). Players at all levels would be spending some of their time PVPing each other, doing trade runs, and other things. Once people start power leveling, the PVP-jobbing-etc part of the lower levels starts to become non existant. More and more people think "everyone else is power leveling, low levels suck now... I'm going to get power leveled".

If that trend continues, everyone gets power leveled, then levels 1 through, say, 50, shouldn't even exist since everyone would spend those levels just sitting on a horse... and the extreme few who decide not to just sit on a horse are forced to grind next to parties of 7 horse riders following some lvl 90 that is constantly KSing everyone.

Perhaps Joymax should just change the game to where everyone starts at level 80 fully farmed?

In a way, it's similar to the player botting problem. More and more people bot, more and more people start to think low levels suck, I'm gonna bot too... I think the lower levels could be more fun if more people actually spent some time there with each other.

People said the same thing about the academy system. I've often heard it called the "power leveling system" by some people. That system was intended for high levels to teach low levels about the game, not to just drag them around on horses for 40 levels.

Even from the beginning of sro, I hated pvp (I hate pvp/pk in every game) and jobbing. Jobbing was so horrible with all the sosuns users on Xian. Even when I was done being p-lvl'd jobbing was terrible and still found it boring. But yeah yeah, you're just too righteous with everything as always =___=;; (Not intended to be insulting, I always see you as the wise and humble grandfather figure of srf >< I hope you're not offended by that lol) Don't forget, I played to be with Jackal, nothing more. The game bared no interest to me for some time. I'm not trying to say it's a great thing and everyone should do it *shrugs* =S

Like I said before, if I/we ever play again I want to go to Gaia so Jackal and I can start over together.

Playing sro together is all that mattered to us.

I don't take any offense to that. I'm only 29, so it's interesting being seen as the 'wise and humble grandfather figure' but I take no offense :)

Simple question is this forum against botting because it's illegal as mentioned in the TOS or because it ruins the game ??

My point is if this forum against botting cuz it ruins the game the it should be against plvling & pfarming too .

lol, that would be grey zone here, there are countless debates about that in GD,
noone can make any true line because:

apparently everyone here must be against bots
but everyone wants a benefit from the pwr lvling

it will stay as long as joymax doesnt change it
