What is JM's problem?
Disable clientless.
MAXIMUM 2 SRO running per IP.
Problems?

all the goldbots have to do is redirect their IP address and they could have unlimited SRO's again.

how do you want to do that? i am just wondering.

I've come to the conclusion that the only way players can stop goldbots is by simply stopping everyone from buying the gold. Once goldbuying stops, there will be less bots and server might be back to normal.

Can't they just prevent 1 IP address from running more than 1 client.

Taking a line out of the Incredibles - "If everyone's special, then no one's special"

Give everyone sox or make it a lot easier to get. Prices fall on everything, people have no need to buy gold, bot companies have no need to keep collecting and selling gold. Don't think this would happen though.

Or...

Get rid of all sox. But alas that won't happen either, because that's why most of us play - to have an experience that is unique to us and to try to be better than the next person. I'd be a little frustrated if after working so hard to get to the top, ff, and sunned out, just to find out that I'm just another brick in the wall.

Option 3 - best choice - Get some more ingame GMs/assistants! If they can't afford any, I'm sure there's a few that would volunteer in exchange for some silk every now and then. Get in game, and let the ban hammers fly without fail. All they would have to do is stake out every town for a while, and ban the bots as they make their stops at town and are leaving to go grind. Have an ingame GM that can respond to any bot reports on the spot. With this many servers they need several GMs and assistants on every server.

To sum up their current maintenance/administration, JM/SRO feels like we've all gotten on a carousel for a ride and the operator has stepped away from the controls for an indefinite smoke break. :(

This is probably the only thing that will work.

Aren't people from Venus already doing this?

How is it working out?

I think you should just be able to buy gold from Joymax with silk etc.

Someone said it above. Only way to really stop gold bots is to make the community stop buying gold.

Right now demand is high, and that's the problem. Get rid of demand, get rid of the problem.

Ever heard of proxy?

Get over it, any gold based game will have goldfarmers; human or bot they will always be there.

This is what I think would happen.

If Joymax were to take away NPC gear. The goldbots would put on any/every drop they get. If they get a drop they're unable to wear they would probably give it to other one of their gold bots. Instead of the gold bots, say, once a week putting all their drops onto an account to sell it they would keep it for themselves. Thus pushing the demand for certain items up, up, up. So too, the price of these items.

I don't know if that would actually happen. That's just what I think.
