silkroad online's infrastructure is very fragile than most people believe it to be. The only reason why they aren't at theirs knees right now to their customers is because we are enslaved with their greed techniques in this game. The moment we organize, make certain weeks of silk strikes, and I mean strikes that are REAL and no one actually buys any at all for that week at the same time, OF COURSE THEY WILL NOTICE.
So my suggestion is:
1. Make a website.. (example: http://www.dontbuysilk.com) 2. Make reasons why people shouldn't buy silk and definitely try to include the many greed techinques they employ in this game. 3. Try to get a type of slogan or saying, so that it goes along good with the website name, or at least this united strike movement. 4. Try to get as many guild/unions members to read this site. 5. Try to schedule weekly silk strikes.....shit make people list their name and character/server info pledging they will not buy silk for that week or something
just try to be creative in slowing down this greedy behemoth of a company
Good thoughts bro, fight fire with fire. i like the idea very much
fighting fire with fire will just end up in an inferno...I don`t think it will work T_T

yeah but what do expect? If you made as much money as easily as joymax does and you were able to retain the same amount of paying customers why would you waste time making the customer service better?

Where is the flame-baiter idiot ignore button on this forum?
It will work, you are a minority, fanboys compared to the frustrated silkroad player is an obvious grand canyon gap. When you have those kinds of numbers of people not buying silk for an entire week, IT WILL HURT them, because if there is at least 3/4 of actual silk buyers doing this effort it will be noticed and it will be dealt with by joymax. And what do I mean dealt with? Joymax will start appeasing in the least profit way to us silk buyers.
If this does work, do not come out of the blue thanking anyone, you should be in the spotlight being thrown rocks at all day.

Yeah maybe Joymax would "wake up and start appeasing silk buyers" if SRO was their only game. They have at lest 2 other games that they run. If SRO becomes unprofitable, they would just shut it down and concentrate their efforts on other games they run.
On the flip side, if the legit community starts buying tons of silk, Joymax will notice that as well. Legits will be more profitable than bots (if they're not already). Don't you think that would make them want to "appease" us more than by us boycotting them?
I'm not suggesting everyone start sending thousands of dollars per month to Joymax, but I think it would have a better affect than putting a choke hold on their profit lines when they can just toss SRO in the trash and sell off the servers that run it.

Stupid? Brilliant more like it. They made a game that even without any support, so many glitches and an untoleratable amount of cheaters and yet they make so much money. Pure brilliance.
You're all very quick to calculate Joymax's profit. 5.5 million says one, 550k says the other. Did any of you stop for a minute and thought of how much it costs them to run up 37 servers? Nivlam had to pay some $550/mo for his server while the load of it is 0.1% the load any of silkroad's servers get at a single day. Also the specs of such a server are intense to hold up 3,500 users at once!
They make a good living, no doubt. They've got a good business plan and they follow it strictly. They wont go down for a few good years.

Silkroad Online is a massively multiplayer online RPG that puts the player deep into historical fantasy, joining the Chinese and European civilizations along the Silk Road trade route. Traveling across Jangan, from China to Constantinople, players can make their fortunes as merchants, prey on the rich as thieves, or be protection-for-hire as hunters. The most recent expansion, Legend III Roc Mountain, added new territory, quests, weapons, and an increased level cap for adventurers. With over 18 million registered users and 170,000 concurrent players worldwide, the triangular conflict of Silkroad Online has never been more exciting. More information about Silkroad Online is available at http://www.joymax.com/silkroad.
i'd say 1/2 if not more of the 170k is gold bots...18m..highly doubt it lol..

When was the last time boycotting anything ever worked? IIRC, never. As I have already pointed out with my paypalsucks.com reference, it does not work. It will not work and it is a complete waste of time. You will spend way more money buying the domain name and keeping the server/website up and running than Joymax will lose from boycotting silk. In case you missed the post in either this thread or a different one, Turkey has, probably, the most SRO players per capita than any where else, which one could extrapolate that Turkish players spend the most on silk. How many Turkish members are here at SRF? 5-10, maybe a few more. Starting up a website trying to get people to boycott something that is available in just about every modern country in the world is futile. It will not work. People have tried to boycott other things and have all failed. You make it sound like you have stumbled upon the holy grail of making some company listed. You are just wanting to do something that has been tried and failed since time began. I, for one, have the money to buy silk and can if I so choose. I have a feeling that you are one of those that cannot afford to buy silk and because you can't you decide to complain about it. If you could afford to buy silk then you would not be complaining. If you can afford to buy silk and choose not to then I suggest you shut your pie hole because you are just making yourself look like an idiot.
BTW, I am not a Joymax fanboy. I just don't have anything to complain about.
Even if people paid 50$ a month..the end salary would be WAY off. Taxes, server costs, electricity costs, employee salaries etc etc.. 500 does sound like a fair amount of players per server but some have even less. Remember not everyone buys silk either.
And so?i don't get your point,if joymax do not sell silk they wil be no game. 37 servers have a cost it's not free. If you make a game it's normal to have some money for it no? 5.5m for a month is nice deal,it's called business,a game is a business even if you don't want to,it is.
you gotta to be kidding me right? servers are not free no, but they could improve the support and service instead adding more servers for more $$, get ma point?

Silk buyers will flame? Lulwut. They spend money on a game they like. So what?
5.550.000 dollars and no service or support, that's what.
They do not make even close to that. If they did make 5.5million dollars a month then you'd see Silkroad with a real staff and updates monthly.

Btw, also remember that JM gets a lot of money from the companies that runs ksro, csro and so on. Think this is where the real profit gets in the picture =)
What is actually wrong with JM making profits? You guys are the dumb fucks (me too, I know) that buy silk. Nobody forced you to buy silk. And ofcourse, anybody with just a little bit of bussiness knowledge knows that having a company isn't free. They have to pay their employees, servers, electricity, promotions, etc. If you add it all up, you get a number you will get a fairly high number. Ofcourse, they make huge profits off of silkbuyers, but if they didn't JM wouldn't exist.
I am not saying it's good that JM is breaking it's own policy and abandoning their clients for more profits, but it's a very smart move on the short term.
Ok, maybe most of you know this, but i think some younger of you don't. The reason i made this tread to make people aware not to buy silk of those *****ckers.
We got 37 servers right? and lets say 3000 average users per server. 37 x 3000= 111.000 that's amount of average users per server. 111.000 users x 50 dollars = 5.550.000 dollars minimal per month, yeah that is too much for a crappy company like Joymax, i think they don't deserve even the quarter of this amount with their service and support.
As others have pointed out, I dont think there are 500 actual players in each server, and probably only about 300 of them buy silk :\

There isn't much of a game atm anyways.. And remember, Joymax are the ones who opened all the 37 servers, not because players wanted 'em (well some probably did). If Joymax could keep the servers not crowded with goldbots then there wouldn't even be need for 10 servers (its too late for that now though)

Then think about Blizzard
They have 11.5 million players (At least it says so in the commercials) They all pay $15 a month.
11 500 000 * 15 = 172 500 000
Thats $172.5 million.
That is kinda much
Blizzard has great customer support though >.>. Even though Blizzard might get more money than Joymax, JM has a fairly small customer support, and no GMs ingame or at forums at all.

Most of those registered users are probably goldbots or inactive accounts :\
IMO Joymax could surely step up their customer support, but like someone else said, its all buzinezz

JM used to have quotes like "The war on bots continues.." in the box at the right of the launcher after every bot ban, but that was like during the summer of 08. So they aren't really denying that there are bots in the game :\

If it was like a MMOsite interview, i think i kind of remember it.. but im not sure. I'm just saying that JM surely acknowledges that there are bots in the game since they had the "war on bots" propaganda last year

I don't think anyone has said this yet but just b/c only 500 out of 3000 players are not gold bots doesn't mean that there are only 500 players. It just means there are only 500 players logged in...there are probably around 2000-3000 players on each server that are not gold bots.
