The only sickness here is the people who think nude automatically equals porn, and that it's some sort of sick and terrible thing to see drawings of unclothed bodies.

I truely pity you. You miss the entire point of things like this in your massively naive assumption that all anybody wants out of nudity is to gain sexual pleasure from it. How about holding your poison tongues for a second longer and considering a healther point of view, before branding everyone as predators of the flesh or "sick" and "perverted"? It is you who needs to sit in a room, alone, and consider what upbringing has caused you to become so offended by beauty, and so disgusted by those who actually appreciate it.

If I ever figured out how to make such a patch, I would release it for everyone to enjoy. Why not? I'm sure most people DO only want it for sexual gratification, but then, it is nothing we can't see in the real world anyway. So what really is the problem with that, if it were to come with an age requirement?

On the other hand, there are those of us who would want it for the beauty of the body, and that is perfectly fine too. Your opinions are as incredible as they are heartbreaking. It is people like you who make the rest of us lose a little bit of our faith in humanity every time you come up with such garbage and try to force it like gospel upon everybody else.

All of you seem to forget the fact that people under the age of 18 (12 now, cause were all d-tized) play this game and therefore no naked people. Plus, we all know how scary soccer moms can get considering this game is free and not even rated.

This game is bloody, what will it teach them about killing endlessly? And killing anyone that pisses them off? And what would killing tigers teach them also?

It doesn't need to be porn and it doesn't need to be sick or terrible to qualify as inappropriate. The fact remains that there is a strong general taboo against children + nudity in many cultures, yours and mine included (with obvious exceptions). It may be that this taboo is unnecessary or even ridiculous, but it would still be unethical not to respect a parent's right to enforce that taboo when dealing with their own children. And there are a lot of 10-15 year olds who've played SRO.

Personally, I believe that nudity can be artistic and not gratuitous, but I wouldn't want to introduce a child of mine to nudity via an MMORPG. The kid needs to understand to realize that he or she is looking at a nude person, and game models are not people.

I kinda like JoyMax for respecting the culture into which they brought the game. Is it silly to think that seeing nudity is wrong? Maybe. But the majority rules and America is a pimarily Christian culture. I mean, on Xian I would much rather my son looked at the naked bodies of women with appreciation than Twiggy03 and ExDos' globals about having sex with eachother and any other man they can rope into it, but that is just a personal prefrence. America has a long history of condeming nudity and JoyMax merely made the game respect that. At least they did some research first....

I totally agree with Bakemaster and nightbloom's opinions on children's exposure to 'inappropriate content' in games in modern societies. What I would enjoy seeing is an age-restricted patch, but I know that it would be all too easy for anyone with a brain to circumvent that measure by faking their date of birth (or whatever). In the end, I know it's not feasable, and I don't argue that it should be any other way.

My only beef is with the people who came in here yelling about how "sick" it is that people want to be able to unclothe their characters. That's one topic I will vehemently fight against any day. x]

Still art, and still quite risqué, but I think we're mainly dealing with the issue of character nudity 'en masse' in games. Besides.
