most people ahve NO idea what goes into creating a game of this scale and complexity.
most people have NO idea how hard it is to achieve stability on such a large network of machines.
most people have NO idea how difficult it is to maintain, bug-test, trouble-shoot, monitor, patch, and expand a complicated piece of software.
most people have NO idea what is going on behind the scenes at JM and what work is being done.

All of these things get complicated by the fact that SRO is so popular. There are 10's of thousands of users spread across a dozen servers. all of those people expect to be able to play whenever they want, however they want, with no hassles, interruptions, setbacks, downtime, or grief. and most people have NO idea how impossible this is, especially in a game which, in case we haven't noticed, is NOT FINISHED.

botting is a problem. it is being worked on, i assure you.
CCF is a problem. it is being worked on, i assure you.
lag and server congestion are problems. they are being worked on, i assure you.

how do i know these things? COMMON SENSE. i have been around enough to know that just because i can't see something doesn't mean it's not there. just because i don't have a JM employee emailing me hourly reports on their activities doesn't mean nothing's being done. just because i don't see any progress in my own gaming experience doesn't mean i'm being ignored.

do you all SERIOUSLY believe that after creating a hugely successful, rapidly expanding, immensely profitable game that they are all just hanging out in Rio, sipping mai tai's and laughing up their sleeves at our concerns and issues while the money from silk is pouring in?

if you can honestly say "yes" to that question, then your naivety is so embarrassing that even i feel bad for you. have a little goddamned faith, something even vaguely resembling patience, and perhaps a small measure of maturity, and i promise you that you'll be at least less bothered by the state SRO is in right now, if not accepting and understanding. reading some of the threads in here makes me feel like i'm running a daycare instead of moderating a forum full of informed, enthusiastic players of a pretty kick-ass game. gg, and grow up.

One of my favorite sayings is... Common Sense isn't common. Unfortunately it's true too.

And by testing the game we're helping them achieve the standard of normal MMOs. What would the world of MMOs be like if no one decided to test out anything because theres something better?

Double thing there. What about all the people that dislike wow, then those others dislike sro...
What if no one played wow.

exactly. "What if no-one played WoW" Maybe Silkroad will become the next WoW. You never know. And anyone who doesnt want to know will definitely take a visit to the off-topic lounge, like i did at one time, and look at all u guys are saying about WoW. But if you want people to play WoW instead of SRO to enrich their gaming experience, i really dont think you'll meet all that many who are interested in general discussion. Thats my point of view.

No. WoW was good when it came out, because it came out when it was done. Not 1/10th the way finished WiP pre-alpha game

It's been awhile since I checked in, and I didn't feel like reading ALL of this thread, but im glad to see conversationg Is occuring. :D (whether or not it's positive I couldn't say, for I have not read the whole thing..)

But one thing I want to get across before anything else is said.

I  SILKROAD. ONLINE.

I made my original post, to try and explain (in my own dysfunctional way) how SRO is good, how you should look past the "bad" things in this game, cuz there are bad things in every game. I love this game, it is as simple as that. :)

The first mmo I got into.

the first mmo that made me join a forum (btw thank you Ryoko, I spend more time on this site than I do on sro I think. And thanks to all the volunteers that make this site what it is.)

Im not trying to do anything here, except say that I love sro. And in doing so, im trying to...somehow make all the eople who support WoW and bash SRO go away. Shoo, get out of here. This is silkroadforums.com not worldofwarcraftforums.com.

SRO>WOW. hehehe.

Although I, again, cannot make comparisons, seeing as how I have never played WoW. But again, I dont WANT to play WoW. SRO FTW! JM isn't all that bad, and I am not gonna care when a lvl 64 who botted there with a ccf'ed +9 wep one-hits me, I dont play to be the best, I play for the fun. IT IS A GAME. PLAY IT FOR FUN, NOT BECAUSE YOUR LIFE DEPENDS ON OWNING THE SERVER. Sheesh. 8)

If you want to play wow instead of sro, go ahead noone is stopping you. If you're going to bash on sro, and suck wow's ****, then get out of here. This is a sro support site, support sro by leaving. Lol.

WoW is a game as well, go there for your fun, dont come and say shit like "im simply stating facts, wow is better". Wow is NOT better for people who would RATHER play sro ffs. No matter how ignorant we may seem to you, which I assure you we are not, we dont want wow, we want sro. So please. If you aren't going to supprot sro and its people, then go to a wow forum, and support the game that YOU love and help the people who love to play the game you love. Ok? Ok...

If i wanted goblins and orcs I'd go play Dungeons and Dragons. Since I want nukers and glaviers, with a chinese based history, I will play SRO. lol.
