Anymore I can spot a bot pretty easy. If someone in the union is suspected of botting they drag me out there to verify. I mean as if not replying was not a huge sign.

Kind of the union bot-meter. I have gotten accused of being a bot myself. Because I tend to use the same attacks and my imbues go like clockwork. But that is because of my fighting style etc. I get a rythm down and stick to it constantly mashing the imbue button so it does not go out while I am fighting. And because of that they act like I am a bot. I have had some even come up and try to KS me on giants. What really convinces them I am not a bot is when I stop attacking the giant and go after them.

I have died a few times doing it. And murdered one or two other times. But those same ppl I see now. Hehe they don't do that any more.
But if someone is not ksing or attacking me I just tend to ignore them. Just because you talk does not mean you are not botting. I have talked to several botters while they were botting. Many admitted it since things are so bad that they hardly have to worry about getting caught.
If you don't actually bot I can't see how you should have any fear of getting banned. With how cautious joymax seems to be about banning botters I am sure they don't just ban you site unseen on reports alone. Cause if that was the case. I have reported almost whole guilds with none of them getting banned. And they were bots. No false positives.
Just out of curiosity what criteria or tells do you all look for to detect a bot?
these are mine:
Gold bots
1. they always get to their spots taking similar paths all ways making regular stops at waypoints.
2. they have random mostly consonant names.
3. they don't use any skills other than self breathe heal. And no imbue.
4. they tend to "slide" back and forth from the monster they are attacking.
5. Obsticle humping.
6. Inhuman reaction time targeting a new mob as you attack the one they were after.
Lvl bots
1. They also get to their spots taking mostly the same paths stopping regularly at waypoints.
2. They tend to have almost instant imbue but more telling almost instant buff. Imbue is easy. But most tend to have buffs on another bar etc so they tend to take time to reapply.
3. The ubiquitous obstacle humping.
4. The inhuman reaction time re-targeting on another mob as you attack their selected.
5. Going zerk while traveling to grind location when 3 mobs agro them but not stopping to attack the mobs.
6. Chasing after mobs imbuing but not attacking due to a broken weapon for hours on end. Dying only to come back and do it again.
7. Attacking mobs with a weapon that is a higher lvl than they are (due to dying and delvling) and dying only to come back and do it again.
8. They tend to be in areas grinding green or even blue mobs one at a time. Not power grinding like some do.
I think those are the major tells. But I am always ready to learn new ones.
One of the best spots to bot spot is the south entrance to karakoram since it is the shortest path to the shades and yeti it is the most travled path by 50+ bots. Also since it winds so much and is so narrow all the bot paths converge in that spot to one path. So they are really easy to see. they get stuck alot along the side of the hill they cut it so close. As well as making their regular way point stops.
