Im kinda leaning towards the cons of a botter abuse forum.
It would simply draw more attention to it. It seems that the purpose if such a forum would be to;

a. clean up the general dicussion
b. raise botter awareness
c. hopefully snag a discreet botter and ban him from SRF

But its just not worth discussing. Botting is essentially cheating, and cheating is lying. We're dealing with corrupt indiviuduals. Why should anyone put any effort and time discussing it? No one can change it-its just a fact of SRO that legits must cope with. We can be jealous and angry-yeah, but they dont hurt us directly.

If we want to stop botting threads, admins can simply delete them on sight, and that would be an end to the problem. Locking is worthless-you can still view the contents of the thread.

Admins and mods have enough to handle on general dicussion and Q&A. It would me more work to operate another whole new forum.

Putting them in a seperate forum only puts them "out of site and out of mind", the whole purpose of posting them is for them to be seen by all. I personally attend several boards like this one and Tavern as well as several Guild Wars boards. There are some forums I never look at.

i dunno, i never look at the marketplace or the guild forums unless someone points me there, and i seldom look at the technical help forum. maybe STINGER has a point. i always check every new thread in the General Discussion forum. maybe it's a good weay to keep people informed.

Thats one of the bigger problems of SRF. If admins and moderators donr even glance at forums other than GD, who would? Making another forum would be messy-there would be few ppl discussing it.

what rule did i break?
SuicideGrl wrote:
  • 1) Be a bot supporter. Change your avatar to the pointy-finger bot symbol. Put "0x33" somewhere in your sig. Talk openly about, admit to, or suggest botting in a thread. Ask about how to buy, offer to sell, or post links to bot clients, etc. DOING ANY OF THESE THINGS WILL RESULT IN AN INSTANT BAN. There will be no warnings. There will be no discussion. There is ZERO tolerance.
  • 2) Be a bigot. Post SS of globals, whispers, or other interactions with a member of a particular race, nationality, religion, sex, etc. that is meant to defame, degrade, or ridicule them for being a member of that class. Make threads about how much you hate people from X and how they are ruining the game for you. Put racist slogans, images, etc. in your sig/avatar. Screw it up once and you get a warning. Ignore that warning and you will lose the right to post, display signatures, etc. Continue to defy and you will be banned, period.
  • 3) Disrespect the SRF staff. Blatantly defy a request or instruction from a mod. Post comments about a mod's inability to do their job properly after being modded. Refuse to comply with forum standards after being warned by a mod for an infraction. The three-strike rule is in effect here as well. Insulting a mod via PM counts too. Don't think you can get away with it. The staff here devotes a lot of time on a volunteer basis to keep this forum a nice place to visit and a nice community to be a part of. Push this issue and you will be banned.
  • 4) Remake an account after being banned once for one of the above. We will keep deleting your posts and banning your IPs. You will run out of patience and proxies before we run out of the desire to keep you out. It takes you 10x as long to remake as it does us to ban. Making an alternate identity with which to flame, spam, etc. will cause both accounts to be banned.
  • 5) Be a constant problem. Flame in nearly every post. Accuse everyone who starts a topic of being a bot. Spam ridiculous nonsense at any opportunity. Do stupid things to intentionally a) piss off the mod team or b) piss off another forum member. Inflate your post count with garbage. Post disturbing, inappropriate, or NSFW (not safe for work) images in threads, avatars, sigs, etc. If you intentionally make more work for us, you'll find yourself banned.

***IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW LONG YOU'VE BEEN A MEMBER HERE. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MANY POSTS YOU HAVE. IT DOESN'T MATTER HOW MANY PEOPLE ARE IN YOUR CIRCLE OF FRIENDS. IF YOU DO THESE THINGS, YOU ARE GONE. END OF STORY.***

A big thank you to all the users here at SRF who simply follow the rules. You are what makes this place as great as it is.
