only if they use official SRO server files. If they make there own server without useing any joymax server files it would be theres and theres only.

what about clinet side files? aren't those copy righted?

yeah. but your not selling it, or claiming it as your own. your not giving it out to be downloaded either. ppl get it from joymax and install it on there own.

so in short you're telling that the player uses the donwloaded files for something that is not it's original purpose. Which lays the responsiblity at the players side...

by law ur internet connection is yours. if you want your client to connect to "server b" instead of "server a" your more then welcome to. The fbi wont be knocking your door down anytime soon.

as long as the server is not useing joymax server files or making money off the client, they can not be shut down. the player himself is not in any danger at all, since he downloaed sro from joymax, and all he did was change his own internet connection to connect to a different place. joymax can cry and moan, but it wont help them.

if it works out, id be the 1st to run my own server. 90 cap, job update. none of that euro crap or sosun crap or 6000000000x exp crap.

also this would be a great opportunity to test all the builds, just set the server EXP rate extreme high and voila you're lvl 80

I'd like to make a server that has fast leveling, no SOS items, and you can only buy NPC items. No rare drops, so everyone has an equal chance to be strong. Lol

Depends, if you host a server for people from one or two nearby (small) countries like for example Holland and Belgium the ping wont be very high if everyone has decent internet. But in iSRO the servers are in Korea as far as I know and the players connect from all over the world some of them with crappy internet so that gives tons of lag

To all who say a private server will lag, it won't. If you have a good enough comp or connection, there will be visibly no lag. I have ran a WoW private server with no lag, I am sure this will not lag.

to add to that, i've played many WoW priv servers and i've never experienced lag on any of them, and WoW has more content than SRO so this shouldnt be a problem

Exactly, WoW is SO much bigger, and a LOT more commands/scripts running.

LoL the server would only be a few kilometres from my house XD

Oh and if you host a Dutch / Belgian server I woulc like to join :D but I'd say highten the XP/SP rate like 2 or 3 times, I think many people wouldnt want to grind all over again with the same horrible speed, lol

I think they will only change the client so that your sro can connect to their server. And sro code can be reverse engineering so that they can make their own server.

@Botters out there : dont follow us to private server, stay in your old sro :)

Yeah, and if you start to get lag, you could make a community website where people have to subscribe (for free) to recieve the IP/Password to your SRO server. It'd make for a lot better gameplay if you had 100-200 people playing that were all friendly, english speaking people.

botters can follow, but private servers mean active gm's. botters wont stand 10 min there.

Yeah, no sh*t. Lol.

If these guys come through within the next few months, I will consider hosting a server for the people from the FoCA, CoFR, GamersHaven, and SRF communities. As it is now, the server I'm building will most likely be used for Battlefield 2 or CS:S. However, if this SRO Emu works, I'll go with that.

I'd run it a lot like SRO is now, but with user voted admins, faster grinding pace (imagine going from level 72 to 73 in a day without botting), more drops, job events, and unique events.

I'll join all the private servers! :D Only the high rates though

And about it being illegal, it aint. You didn't copy anything, you used their client files, but those were freely downloaded from their own site. You can do with them what you like. :D

ACTUALLY they wont follow, the money wont be transferable through priv servers and the actual server, and botters and farmers want to have the MOST money possible, therefore they would go to the mainstream servers. Without the gold farming bots, regular bots wont be a problem

All legits move to legitSRO, and leave the gold bots their own server iSRO. I'd like to see how JM feels when they log in and see no one around but botters. Soon, gold bots companies would give up coz no one play and buy gold. :D
If anyone thinks he spent much silk on old iSRO, he can stay. But i'll tell u that private is much more fun. So everyone wants to be max lvl fast to make war, right? :)
IP banning would be a great deal so take care of your actions. Keep it safe if u play on LAN :)

 seeing so much people getting excited :D as long that the private server stays legit everyone is welcome. It would be nice to be running around in Takla everyone saying "hi" to you or good morning :P

*Active GM's would be great. Botters on sight getting banned. Thats cool :D

Of course they can, just update freakin gameguard to detect the bot. Look at gunbound, their gameguard is SO much better.
