I assume you've seen skzigzag on our server... he's the kind of guy that never buys silk, but hes probably the richest guy on the server. (anyway) I asked him this before, and he said it really depended. He told me that sometimes it takes up to 300 elixirs just to get a weapon to +5 w/o astral. I also know that he did make a blade +7 without astral, and that it ran him near broke by trying it - he spent well over 100mil trying it, and eventually got it.
