i know this post is locked but i felt the need to add my 2cents.


at the end of the day, there is only one person on this board who can ban, and that's me. all ban decisions ultimately go through me before a person is banned.

things i ban instantly for:
- bot support, admission, distribution, etc.
- gold-buying admission, support, etc.
- char selling / selling in-game items for real cash
- posting grossly inappropriate material (porn, disturbing or grotesque images, etc.)
- excessive flaming, racism, or mod disrespect
- advertising (specifically adbux-type sites)
- remaking banned accounts


things which recieve warnings, either from me or the other mod staff:
- minor-to-moderate flames
- trading accounts, or selling accounts for in-game currency
- copyright infringement
- statements which could be construed as pro-bot from an otherwise good user



the user in question got the viruses he got because he downloaded a bot. he freely gave this piece of information. the rules of this forum are loud and clear: bot and be banned. he took a risk thinking it would help his cause and it did not pay off for him.

people love to use the "well other people do worse things and THEY don't get banned!" excuse. that excuse will never work. other people's actions do not absolve you from wrongdoing or rules violations.

imagine walking into a bank and saying "hey, i have a problem. i just robbed this other bank, and now i don't have anything big enough to hold all my money. do you think someone here could help me fix this?" they would a) laugh in your face and b) have you arrested.

having a legitimate problem that has its origins in illegitimate activities does not garner you any sympathy. a rapist who contracts an STD while committing his crime does not deserve sympathy; that is called poetic justice.
