This isn't gonna work. IT simply doesn't. First off you can only ban someones external IP. Just ask the mods what IP they see on you.

Secondly, it's extremely easy to change your external IP. If you change it, you're not IP banned anymore, since you get a new IP.

Like ok if you don't understand, go on Start -> run -> write "cmd" and press ok -> you should get a black window, write "ipconfig" on it. YOu get three different IP's, one of them is your computer's IP. Joymax can't acces it, it would require hacking you to get that IP and it's illegal.

Now on firefox there's an extension that shows your IP. Try to get it. When you have it, look at the IP, it's a different one. Now close firefox, turn off your internet connexion and turn it on again. Open firefox. What happened? The IP changed. What does this mean? IP bans don't work.

Forget about it, gaymax will always fail at banning bots -> they're corrupted. All you have to do is pwn the bots by yourselves.
'nuff said.

Banned for what? He's been leveling with us in parties the whole way up, there is no "if."

Even though banning the ip would be wrong because there may be one than more person that has an account on the same computer/household, just think of it this way, if one person on the computer/household screws up, then everyone that has an account (even if they weren't botting) will have that one person to blame. Even though I wasn't a trouble-maker in school, when I was on the football team in high school, the coaches would tell us if one person on the team screws up with something (horesplace, acting up in school, etc) then the whole team would suffer, which would make the team as a whole make sure nobody screws up. Same would go with the game. Say there's 4 people in a house that play silkroad, all but 3 are legit, it'll persuade the other 3 into making the other person not bot, and if they all get banned at least that botter will get what's coming to him.

unless they got smart and banned via GUID. Yeah, we can always change IP address, not that hard to get around.

Well, they could just fix that by banning any account the ip was on, along with that ip ;d.

IP banning I think is a great idea coz there's a posibility to ban player bot not just gold bots. I played sro in an internet cafe before, that was the time i started playing the game, then I left the cafe after having my own connection. What if after I left, that was a year+ almost 2 years now, they started using bot or whatever. I'll be ban to? Let see after the bot ban. What took them so long to ban these bots? They posted that a long time ago.

It will work very well. It all depends on how far they want to take it.

That's all they need.

Again, it depends on how far JM wants to take this. If they have a way of automatically detecting bots (which, with the current bots, would be very easy to do), and they decide they want to automatically IP-ban people based on that, you will quickly find that your pool of available addresses will run out pretty fast (that pool usually consists of 254 addresses, but could be far bigger, or much smaller).

This basically gives you a week or two depending on the effectiveness of JM's detection system. And if you are not alone on your subnet, it will go even faster. And after that, you're gone forever, unless you switch to a another ISP.

If your computer doesn't have a public address, JM doesn't need any of the addresses you can see by using ipconfig.

It means that you are now using another IP-address allocated to your router/computer by your ISP's DHCP server.

NO, They won't ban IP.

Yep ip ban doesn't work.
Using sympatico isp, ip is rotated from user to user whatever is free at a modem reset.
1 user getting banned from sro would get anyone on the same isp banned too.
They would ban every user, by ip banning.

That is the reason ip ban was removed from every forum/site, it become useless.

ps.: JM won't risk banning any paying user, so all this topics are fakes.

Alot of talking and at the end 70 gold bots and non silk users player bots of every server are gonna be banned and that's it. like it has always been. "Improving accuracy of bot ban" is just an excuse for they have fallen asleep. a broken tree will never be straight again. and joymax is a broken tree.

They wont ban IP. But it would be great to see the game lose 95% of the population. And ban the Farking gold bot company IP :D

They may ban by IP. It means that u can create a new account and connect to the server after u get banned. :)
