I would. The war on bots will never be won unless we fight it everywhere. Make them understand they're not welcome in the game, on the forums, in vent, not anywhere.

What about me? I want to be bot-report worthy! Not that a report like that would ever happen, or have any sort of proof mind you.

As for the poll, I would report anyone I discover if I had the means to do it. Generally, screenshots aren't proof enough and you need a combination of things, especially in-game video. I don't have fraps, and I'm not even sure if fraps would run under Linux.

Besides, I don't really play all that much lately anyway. Although I have, in the past, PMed mods with some 'possible evidence' because I didn't have means to actually prove things without having mod powers myself.

I don't really care about botters nowadays. Though, if there is a member in SRF that is a closed botter and acts like legit and shiet, I would report his ass, no doubt about it.

Though, I don't play the game anymore :P

This game would be worth paying for if there weren't any bots. This is my first MMO and most likely last, and it's sad that every loser who can't play fair has to cheat. I'll get anyone I know banned for botting without a second thought, friend or not. They want to ruin the game for me, I'll ruin there forum time, which apparently means so much since most banned make a new account..or go on another forum and bitch about it there (lol).

I always have to respond to these types of comments...

Yes, gold bots are a huge problem just because of the HUGE number of them that exist on the server, but don't forget that many player bots also run their own gold bots. So if you blame gold bots, you also have to blame the player bots who run them.

Why separate the two?

more like some friends the bots r. theyre there everyday ksing ur mobs, buying gold, and being jackasses with their fully farmed fully pimped out lvl 80's. they dont talk to us in game while theyre botting, then why should we let them talk on a legit forum while theyre botting? SRF is legit, and always will be now, if you dont like then leave and register on LAB with all the other SRF rejects. i guarantee(sp?) u wont c me crying about how u left.

I wouldn't... since people who got other botters banned later get banned themselves. Hippocrates i say.

What I was thinking. Sad how people forgot the definition of the word friend. People are starting to treat this game like real life. But in the end its just a video game and cheaters exist everywhere.

Some ppl consider a char in game as a life. While some ppl consider it as just a char, no more no less. That's the difference between 2 kinds of point of view.

this is just a game.

Lets see..

game
noun, adjective, gam·er, gam·est, verb, gamed, gam·ing.
–noun
1. an amusement or pastime: children's games.
2. the material or equipment used in playing certain games: a store selling toys and games.
3. a competitive activity involving skill, chance, or endurance on the part of two or more persons who play according to a set of rules, usually for their own amusement or for that of spectators.
4. a single occasion of such an activity, or a definite portion of one: the final game of the season; a rubber of three games at bridge.
5. the number of points required to win a game.
6. the score at a particular stage in a game: With five minutes to play, the game was 7 to 0.
7. a particular manner or style of playing a game: Her game of chess is improving.
8. anything resembling a game, as in requiring skill, endurance, or adherence to rules: the game of diplomacy.

For a "real life" example, if I'm in a movie theater and a "friend" is laughing and joking around on the phone while I'm trying to enjoy a movie. First, I'm going to ask him to stop because he's ruining my experience. If he doesn't I'm either going to leave the theater or report him to an usher or someone that will issue consequences for his actions.

For those that still don't see the relation to SRO... Friend is botting, Farking up the economy, and making the game in general much harder than it should be. First, I'm going to ask him to stop botting. If he doesn't I'm either going to quit the game or report his ass to someone that will issue consequences for his actions.

Seems to me all this "real life" and "friend" bs is just an excuse to be selfish in game. i.e, "Its just a game man. If you're a real friend, you wouldn't report me" "Just go level someone else man. I need to gain xxxx sp or reach xx level." Love the irony.

If he/she was a real friend he/she wouldn't be Farking up the gaming experience. Ignorance really is bliss, I guess.

Shall I go on more about what is a "game?" I have friends that show no remorse for human life. All it takes is a word or reasonable amount of cash and they won't hesitate to take the life of another. What about athletes who depend on the income they make from playing a game as a means of making a living? Professional gamers? How about people who gamble with their lives, whether it be for pay or no pay? Life is also just a game, right?

RogueKiller wrote:

Seems like you never knew the definition of the word friend.

friend
-noun
1. a person attached to another by feelings of affection or personal regard.
2. a person who gives assistance; patron; supporter: friends of the Boston Symphony.
3. a person who is on good terms with another; a person who is not hostile: Who goes there? Friend or foe?
4. a member of the same nation, party, etc.
5. (initial capital letter) a member of the Religious Society of Friends; a Quaker.
–verb (used with object)
6. Rare. to befriend.
—Idiom
7. make friends with, to enter into friendly relations with; become a friend to.

Guess I missed the part where it states the differences between an online friend and an offline friend... Why shouldn't people treat the game like "real life?" Last time I checked, people don't suddenly die or fall into a dream-like state when they log onto the internet.

E-Friends fit that definition. Botter or not. Some botters can fill the definition and some just can't. Not saying be friends with all bots, be friends with bots etc... Just saying that friends are friends and no matter what they do, you shouldn't betray them.

I hate bots as much as the next guy, for clogging up the game I enjoy(ed), but I'm not about to file bug reports for every bot I see. So, no, I'm lazy.

"E-Friends?" All friends are the same to me. I don't see a need to be fickle when it comes to offline and online friends.

But, wouldn't it feel as though they betrayed you if they're botting, messing up the economy, and making the game much harder for you and others than it should be?

I dont really have any bot friends. I had one, he has since stopped playing, but everyone else Ive known has just turned out to be a retard. My alt account in Xian got hacked by a guy who knew the info cause he used to be legit. Went bot, I disagreed with it and didnt say much, next thing I know he's hacking my alt when that who exploit thing happened. I didnt keep anything valuable on it, just crap gear, but still.

The leader of Triadz, one of Xian's most ahole bot guilds when I was last there used to be a very nice member of SG's guild, BlackHand.

Every legit I ever knew that went bot, also went ahole at the same time. Look at the recent events here in SRF... Once nice decent members of the community... they admit they bot and WHAM, instant need for a helmet and drool cup.

Most botters are jerks.

Even the one bot friend I still know, the one that doesnt play, thinks its ok to shoplift from a major store chain like WalMart because they can afford it. There is an inherent flaw in people who think its OK to cheat that make them less than ideal friend material.

They are such great friends, lying to me the whole time about being legit, ruining the game I really like to play. I need so much of a life, because all I do is go around SRF telling other people they need lives..

I would write their names in my Death Note. /otaku

Still, unless you've been friends knowing the fact that he/she bots, it's not betrayal.

Knowing that your pal has been botting all along while putting a legit mask is betrayal.
