By being powerlevelled by a bot you are encouraging people to bot. Nobody will bot plvl you if they're not going to make any gold out of it. If there aren't any bot powerlevel customers, there will be no bot powerlevel sellers. Unless it's a guild which is doing it for free... and these forums frown upon members who are in non-legit guilds. So in theory, you can't win.

In this instance, a high level is going out his way to help noobies learn about the game but also giving them a helping hand. He's not using a bot and he's not doing anything to ruin the game or to give anyone else an unfair advantage, he's doing it out of kindness and that's how the game should be!

plvl by a bot - not legit.
plvl by a legit - legit.

Firstly I dunno how you can even get any kind of good plvl from lvl 60+. Thats when share parties come in and start being fun and people know what they are doing. Secondly the whole "You get plvled and you dunno how to use your character". Thats bs. I know many and myself that know exactly how to play their character properly. I do jobbing, bot hunting, you NEED to know how to use your character to do that. I myself enjoy plvling my lower guildmates. I help plvl people for free at low lvls, I like helping them get their feet wet and answering their questions about the game when I do xD A bot like PomPom attacking his own allies during FW is an example of not knowing how to properly use your character. He also doesn't even know how to pk right, as Jackal said in another topic.

Wasn't plvl suppose to be an alternate to botting?

You find it legit because you're too lazy to play the game? I guess if we get 500 lvl 80 bots, then the other 3,000 "legit" players can just sit on a horse 24x7 getting "legit" experience from those botters. No one will ever actually have to PLAY the game.

No, it is not right, it simply makes you a bot because the source of your leveling is from a bot. It's the same thing as botting.

a. a group of 10 people bot from lvl 1 - 70
b. 1 lvl 80 bot power levels a group of 9 people to level 70

I'd like to see a lvl 80 bot TRY to power level a group of 9 people... a group of 7 can be done, but 9 won't fit in the party :-P

I'd say both a and b are equally as bad.

Did i say it has to be at the same time?

Theres many ways to view it though. By getting power leveled it has actually stopped the 9 people from botting, isn't that a positive thing? Sure they were plvld by one but they never downloaded and used a bot. Isn't that what we want? A smaller bot : non bot ratio?

I'd rather a smaller legit non-legit ratio.

I see no difference between allowing a computer program to control your character to level up, and allowing the computer (SRO game mechanics) to leech experience from another character that is allowing a computer program to control their character.

In the end, they are all just getting their experience from a computer program. It's additional spots on the server that could be filled by someone like me.

I guess it comes down to what you define a legit as. As far as the ToS is concerned they are still a legit. Though i do agree on the fact that its ethically wrong.

Im just trying to fuel some food for thought here.

Haha, this topic shows who grinds and who gets plvl'd.

Plvl by bot is the same as botting yourself. In fact its worse, because then instead of a bot running around grinding on mobs its level, you have some dick level 80 botting on level 70- mobs. Which makes it a hell of alot harder to grind with.

+1

Their gaining lv/sp (gold/items) with out the effort, experience and reward that coming from grinding. All users need to face the reality the game is a grind.

I've seen a full STR archer (8 DEG all green garms) with a +7 bow use his bot to plvl low lvl euro's @ Mujigi/Ujigi (LV 49/50). Some times I see AFK bot's plvl'ing AFK users and I lure mobs to attack and kill those being plvl. They come back to find their char laying flat and any EXP/SXP for that time is lost :) Thats a risk any user takes when their AFK outside a safe-zone :!:

Not all are AFK, some baby sit and let just say thier not happy about my actions  I get the normal comments "I have a life and you have none" etc. If thats the case the opposite of life is "Death" so how could I be communicating with them :?: (because I'm not dead so I don't know how that works) I still manage to find time to grind, work and have a life.

Last time I found a baby sitter they stated: "I'am getting ready to go to work and going out with friends after work, "I have a life and you don't". lol I managed to clean my house have a bath, went out shopping, bumped in to a friend and we had a drink (over 4 hours on my day off). Came back after the first encounter and tried to lure again (same spot I mite add). They were still baby sitting, called me a "NOOB" and asked my level (I wear devil wings). "If I was level 80 I would kill the mobs just like you do" I replied so what happens @ the 90-100 and other caps :?: lol have fun standing around doing nothing (baby sitting) and not playing the game because you have a life.

I voted NOT LEGIT

powerlvlin could be seen as an aid from a friend as well as someone playing for you aka botting.
Although i got powerlvled by a legit friend and fortunately he was powerfarmin so i joined in. and even tho i have 600k+ sp im not going to get powerlvled to 90 cuz i like grinding especially with my new full farmed wiz/cleric :D
Dont wanna miss any important moment while lvling up.

Being powerleveled by a bot is second hand botting. It's like standing next to someone that smokes for an hour, not doing it directly but it is just as bad.

I don't have an opinion on being plvled by a bot. Of course I've never been plvled.
