omg.
you all don't get it :banghead:
you CAN'T run sro in a playable state on VMWare.
It doesn't matter what your computer specs are.
You can take an octo-core 2gig gfx card with 20gigs of ram and it still would get like less than 5 frames a minute and crash.

i can power level with 2 sro open at the same time and i have a 256mb gfx card and a 1.8GHz core, but i have to say it really doesn't matter as long as you have at least 1Gb of RAM. Good luck with getting that to work :)

IT-CAN'T-BE-DONE.

@Bloackfox98, do you even know the Farking difference between multiclient and VMWare ?

Multiclient just boots up another sro_client, taking away the 1 client limitation.

VMWare you have to emulate a whole new operating system, so that takes away 50% ram right there. Unless you find a way of playing with no gfx, goodluck.

I've already tried it and Fudge/Crump are correct, I got about a frame per minute before I gave up and turned it off.

If you REALLY want to know..

Install VMware
Follow the instructions to create a virtual machine
Burn an OS to a disk and allow the virtual machine to detect it
Install the OS
Install Direct X 9.0c
Install SRO
CLOSE THE VM
Find where you installed the machine and open the configurations file (.vmx) and add this to it
Code:
mks.enable3d = TRUE

Resart VM
Start SRO
Complain about the time you just wasted
???
Profit?

I did it this way with a different VM, I'm not sure if you install the OS the same way but it's worth a shot since you're being stubborn. -.-

the only way to dual client is through the illegal way or by having 2 cpu or laptops nearby... that's it.

I think he's too overlegit... he's willing to bomb his pc than do an un-legit thing that no one's stopping him from doing... *Online Sigh*

i dont understand something, if using an emulated os to run a second client is legit, then where is the logical process by which one would define multiclient loaders as not legit? it uses a different method to attain the same goal, from the WAN side, there is no difference....

There is no logic in vmware (or using a laptop) being legit and multiclient not being legit, the end result is the same in that you have taken a server slot away from someone (or more likely something) but you have done it using a method that is easier and uses less electricity than using a laptop.

the video card is not the problem... when u minimize the 3D application, your vpu is 0% loaded. teorically u just need a good multicpu and a lot of rams

but pratically u cannot do it. VMvare and virtual pc (under windows) use a simulated Bios and hardware,
they dont give u direct access to your real hardware/video card...this mean u cant run 3D applications

The only softwares which could do this are VMware Fusion and Parallels, but they works only on Macintosh, and trust me, very few Dx9 games works properly.

give up :(

AngloKnight seems like you only wanted to hear it was possible, which (like the very big majority here) says it's not. If those comments are 'negative' to you, so be it. You're on a forum. You asked a question, it got (seems like they know what they are talking about - i do not) answered. No need to switch your disappointment into "f-u-c-k everyone".

locked.
