About a month or two ago, after i was finished with 2 months of farming to 100k, and just started to lvl up, I decided to make the change from glaive to bow at about lvl 29-lvl 30.

My first intention when I started to farm was to use my 100k sp to make a pure str fire glaive. But had a change of heart and changed to bow.

I figured hey, if 90% of the game is mostly grinding and is lvl-based, then being an archer makes the grinding much bearable and easier (with the 0 gap-lvling on top of that).

But something happened, even if I am a 6x archer.

I watched the guild war between TheEmpire vs _NoFear_, one of the greatest things i've seen in the 7 months I've been playing SRO. Kill all the CCF, Botting, Gold-buying finger pointing here, it was a damn good war. I observed one of the few archers in the war SilkR0ad, granted she had a +7 bow, full up protectors, and a guild member told me she was fully farmed.

Her devil arrow critted at about 2-3kish against a pure str in garm, and 3-4kish to an int in armor, and doesn't look like she was accomplishing much. They say archers were meant for support and wars, but the only support during that war that was effective, while the pure str glaivers and blader tanked, were the nukers.

This led me to the conclusion that my hard earned 100k sp has gone to a waste building a pure str fire bow. Don't get me wrong though, archers is pretty freakin fun to play with, though I'm thinking you need some godly gear as an archer just to compete with mediocre capped str builds.

It also led me to think that STR archers are merely int killers. Though nukers are pretty damage intensive support chars, archers have their place killing ints (and lower lvls if you want to count that as well).

I became an archer because it was fun, but now it doesn't seem like it was worth my time farming.

I still have my Seal Of Sun +3 lvl 16 bow, ready to farm again. But I am not sure where to go from here, and am reluctant to go back to that bandit den.

Should I follow the crowd and re-pick up that glaive, or stay an archer (hopefully waiting for Joymax to revamp the skills)?

Go glaive or play World of Warcraft. Wait, what am I thinking, just play World of Warcraft.

It comes down to how you play your build as well, learn to use range+crit to your advantage etc

Naw SRO could be the last mmo I play in a long time.

That archer must be weak as hell... I'm pretty sure darkjackal does more, and he doesn't have full sos+7 or shit like that.

Caras you need to stop telling people to quit playing SRO and play WoW if they wanted to they would have...

1. Do you want to waste all your hard work because of what you have heard? Yes i have been seeing in this forum that archers sucks or whatever. If you found archers fun, stick with it

2. If you really want to switch to glaive, you can use the item mall to get 100% sp back which means you still get your 100k SP OR do curse heart to get 80k SP back. This means that you don't really need to farm...just give a gap of 1 or 2.

3. Please DON'T DISHEARTEN PEOPLE BY SAYING THAT CARAS.

You should quit SRO and play WoW.

I'm not changing my perspective because of what I heard, but what I've seen. Archers didn't really rock hard in that war, and most were fully farmed with +5 bows and up.

No I won't play WoW.

ok pake archers are a great value to a guild if they are good at wut they do that 3 to 4 k damge can really help out a glavier or nuker fightin a pure str to hit for the kill

Let me see.. I left EQ to play WoW, I then left WoW to go back to EQ and now I screw it all.. Im playing SRO and very happy paying nothing to play.

WoW was just good eye candy. If it wasn't for PVP the game sucks ass. Granted SRO isn't much better but its free. I got about 8 years wrapped in all of them. But they all at one point turn into the same game. Same reason I don't understand botting. I enjoy getting my toon to max level and to me thats when the game gets boring.

I tried WoW and got really bored with it. I just couldn't get into the game. It was too easy and to fast to level. I never felt like I worked for anything in the game. All spoon fed.

Then again im just waiting for Vanguard. Im hoping its a power gamers dream. I would like a game that took skill to play not some water down mess that a monkey bashing the key pad can win at. But the best thing about the WoW is your forums.. I never seen such retarded stuff posted in my life.

Lv 40 in SRO and having the time of my life.

People spent 10x the money on SRO than WoW so we can say its 'free' but not if you want some goodies. The reason I dont like SRO and get bored of it so easy is because theres nothing to do but grind, thats it! What else is there to do? 1 or 2 quests then more grinding. People spend hundread of hours grinding which is, well boring. WoW keeps me entertained. They have dungeons and thousands of quests and you'll NEVER run out of things to do. When the Burning Crusade comes out it will be even better. The game play is MILLIONS times better than SRO too. Joymax has shity servers and your can hardly log on during the day, but with WoW you can log on whenever. They also have big patch updates every once in a while, but for SRO they do random updates that arnt much. Overall, I find WoW a much better game and everyone I know also likes it alot better than SRO. If the game had more things to do, better servers, not a cheap ass company like joymax who will bend the rules for anyone who pays them money then it might be a better game.

Wow = slower grind in a way, less mindless ftl.
Quests = grind on certain mobs mostly.
Oh noes, slightly better login system
WoW = too time consuming / longer grind(in the way of not mindless)

The only time you have to grind in WoW is for a quest. Most of the time I do dungeons (Instances) to lvl up, which also gives me good gear.

I grind in WoW because its more fun... I can either stealth mobs, rambo mobs, or quest. And WoW has more quests than you can handle... Almost a full page the entire time.

I hated instances.. Having to deal with othere people makes a MMO what it is. Having a zone to yourself is just that playing with yourself. (yes I ment it that way)

SRO is free and you choose to spend money if you want. What did you expect from a free game anyways? You pay for WoW and you get better service from WoW. You find playing WoW fun and I find playing SRO fun. But everyone I know who left from EQ to WoW have left again.

Will I get bored with SRO? Yes.

Will you get bored with WoW? Or is the best thing in the world and your going to live your life there? I think not.

As to logging on? I have very little trouble now.. I think I had to relog 2X on a Sat. That so sucked. Yea I tried Silkroad back when it was very early beta and the text was all screwed up. I even had fun then. What im trying to say in a very long formated way. A game is always fun when its new. You will get tired of WoW and swear the next game is the best game in the world and everyone should leave WoW for it.

So please stop pimping WoW and play that game. We all know WoW is an opt to play but we choose to play Silkroad.

I wouldn't know anything about that. Im only lv 40. But I can tell you things I do know. EQ got real heavy on instant zones after WoW came out. Before that we used to race to mob spawns. People trained othere guilds killing 60 -80 players over a mob. Having a group of people who are skilled and who can move as a unit and take out a mob before anyone had a chance. Nothing in the gaming world like it. We had mobs KS'ed in EQ and all that fun stuff that goes with it. You learned to be faster then the othere guys and smarter.

He switched from Archer to Glaiver at 66, and I am just now knowing why he did it.

I have a main char that is a hybrid archer, lvl 66, i still like being an archer but I recently made a new char on the spur of the moment. The new char is a 1:1 spear user who uses both weapon skills and nukes. Yahyahyah, I'm going to get flamed real bad about being a hybrid, but I really think hybrids will kickass late game. So anyways, I made my new char last night and man...being a spear/glaive user is fun! I think if you chose either or, you will be happy. You should be able to eat pure int nukers like breakfast, though. Even at lv 60, you can kill nukers who are up to lv 63 easily. When you get to 64, you should be able to kill any pure int if they have mediocre gear or the same gear as you. Hesseth, you should change to fire, from ice. Ice is okay for pvp, until you meet someone who's immune to it. Change to fire while you still can!

Im afraid at lv 40 I might be stuck with the path im on. I never PvP much on many MMO's. Kind of been a PVE my whole gaming life. I just never got a kick out killing othere players just very hard mobs. Skills in killing a player is very diffrent mind set then PVE. Im having a very easy time with that combo on most mobs.

Argg tho..

I see that Euro's are going to have a Cleric.. Im such a sucker for that class! Im one of those rare freaks that loves the support classes.

Caras, if you don't like SRO.. stop posting here. Go find nice WoW forums.. instead of trying to transfer everyone here to wow lol. If you really think people shouldn't be playing this game, go make a topic on it in the Off Topic section, instead of ruining every topic here.

On Topic: bows are just a different style of playing. It isn't really a "support" build, hence everybody supports in a group fight, but without doubt they can add there part in pvp.

lol, you actully think SRO is better than WoW? SRO sucks espescially when I can never get on, on weekends. And Caras, right, this game is mindless grind and thats insanley boring. I can't wait till level 20 so I have the option to do *gasp* 3 jobs. I would play WoW in a heartbeat, but I think the 15$ is a little stiff. Only thing going for SRO is it's free, but so is Runescape.

You people with WoW are extremly annoying. Do realize that not everyone thinks that Spock's, midgets and green shits are cool.
