Well most bots have a function that Auto loggs off when a GM is close by, which hey is one way to clear the Caves

Unforunately, the bot can tell on the code level when a GM is near, and they have an auto-logoff option for it.
Sucks huh.

After paying attention to various games I've played, developers of a pserver for an mmo. I've come to the same conclusion others might have. The bot operates off of packets. The gm sends a special packet identifying it as gm, so bot logs off. Monsters have special packets, the bot uses a packet to select the monster (hence why no mouse is needed) and then more packets to choose skills. Inventory has packets, it checks for scroll packets, picks one, goes to town, looks for specific npc packets, goes to the ones needed... I think everything for the bot, is done by packets. If I knew more about the bot, I'd be able to say more. To find out though, I'd have to actually use it, no thanks.

GM's bans people who logoff as they enter (if they are checking a report).

Detecting a packet would be faster than any person's eyes could be. After all, the gm has to load the spot and everything, and while loading, I'm sure the gm is already sending packets to the area, thus clearing out the bots.

I doubt most botters know how the bot works other than setting it up... Though some don't even seem to know how to do that.

How cool would it be if the GM packet could be disguised as a monster, and bots go into auto-attack on the GM?

Bots log off only when in close distance to a GM?
Someone make a [GM]bot that runs back and forth all day logging off botters! Or the [GM]s should bot themselves ;p

Just accept it till they fix the problem or find a new game. Guys and Gals they know about the bots. They don't read this forum.
But I guess we all like pissing in the wind because we like the way it feels on our legs.

the bot also pots by using packets
like ingame potting it sucks
botpot pots before you get to that part due to packets sending in and out

You do realize, that it just might not be the gm's fault? Joymax developers probably don't read forums, and they're the ones that are responsible for updates. It's possible that when it comes to bot ban, they might also be involved. I've been thinking that maybe something in the code, or such, is causing bots to keep from actually getting banned. The l and I look-a-like is a problem too. Would be solved easily I'm sure, simply by changing in game text.

I don't mean to be rude about it.. But as you say alot can be fixed easily. Ask yourself this how long has SRO been out, and how long has bots been around? If they cared/could fix the problem they would of by now. Its not a problem as easy as fix as we think.
You have to come up with a way that out thinks the guy who made up the bots. That may just be something that this game isn't able to do. The problem has been there for the life of this game. Its not something that popped up last week.
Look at the gold duping? They fixed that fast and almost right away. All I can say is get used to bots, they are here to stay for now.

Reading comprehension ftl.
I said the name problem, where people have capital i in place of lower case l... which looks the same, getting away with stuff. That could be solved by changing fonts so it differentiates.
