So I was wondering if anyone frowned upon or discourages this "questionable" thiefing tactic.

(I guess it's sort of 1* popping..)

First, you find a low(er) level trader, you bring your camel/horse, but he's too far ahead. So what do I (and a friend) do? The friend freezes him with nova repeatedly, while my/trader's thieves beat down on him and his transport, until he's popped.

So yeah.. Input?

(Feel free to lock/delete this thread if it crosses the border of the 1* popping rule.)

how is this different from 1* popping?
1) you spawn higher level thieves around him
2) you pick on a low(er) level trader

it's different when he's not a 1* trader of course, else it's just one star popping, without even giving him a chance due to freezing him?

What people also do is attack their caravan to bring it down to low HP, then let the NPCs finish it off. Always gotta worry about murder though as well as running into a higher level when offender status.

I laugh at the people who claims 1* poppers are newbs :D

Crytowel please.

The tactic youre mentioning with having a friend frost nova the trader is brilliant and oh so evil

Also a thing that really irritated me when i was a lower level and thieved around jangan, was getting owned by a hunter and loosing my loot, then seeing his thief friend come pick it up.

Irritating but no need to whine, a part of the game ;)

Doenst work if the trader is lucky and smart... Heal the horse/camel and use some horse pills when npc's spawn, also change the dircetion of your movement

Well i wouldnt know anything about that, didnt do traderuns until 60+ (never 1* too boring)

Waay to frustrating to risk the chance of being popped lmfao.

And also the profit is simply too low at lower levels.

Oooh no no no its not boring! You meet all kinds of creative theives trying to pull of tricks on you to get your trade. And you can safely stand and lauch at them on the side :D And why feed the ego of all the botters that thief, by doing a multi. No thanks. I rather laugh at them for trying to pop me.

Actually ive managed to pop lv 70 players often.

When we thief in our guild/union we always go after HEO's 95% botting union.

We sometimes nail some pretty huge multis (3-5 5*) and after that its always fun to run into innocent high lvl 1* and land 10 thiefs on them :D

one star popping... yeah great fun and excitment... it almost the same as stalk a great beast with no eyes, noticing that this monster is surrounded by its fellow monster, more than 20 of them. look at him into its no face head while u get your zerk on and then waist all of them in a single blaze of glory and fire, while u scream at your monitor "die evil mangyang men die"...
Ps.: most of the 1* poppers i saw use a scout to inform them of the caravans movement... i guess that the scout pm them, they stop playing with their barbie dolls or whatever girlie thing this wankers found amazing and they get ready to ride there horse in front of the selected caravan... wow riding and spawning, thats fun fun fun (almost as ubber fun as scraching your belly and watching the grass growing... scraching and wathing wow more fun :P )

I have no problem with any 1* popping tactics. To me it is easily justifiable since everytime I put my thief suit on I'm likely to get owned by some higher level hunter or trader. We get no safety net so why should they? I say the guys doing the 1*s are the pussies and if there weren't so many of them this would not be an issue. 1* popping is not that easy anyhow to pull off anyhow. Traders just need to grow a pair and get more items. [/rant]

5% aren't botting, wow I didn't know that. Popping 70 traders is easy in the dead ravine. Thats why I never go there. Guess yo can do it elsewhere too, but thats THE place. Now, let me get to lvl 4 and then you are free to pop me as much as you want!

Wow, I am actually agreeing with zexy  :banghead: :banghead: :banghead:.

And one time, I popped Hamdyegy's Ox when my 5 star double spawned... OWNED! And by the way, if you read the Thief's job description in the help section, it says they do anything to get loot, so quit complaining about 1 star poppin!

1* popping is ok with me if you do it yourself and the right way.

if you use your friends without a job suit on and they freeze a low lvl trader just so your npc theives can spawn on him then thats just pathetic to tell you the truth.

1* popping is about a theif and a trader, anyone else has nothing to do with it so why are you involving them?

this week during the event...i was helping my partner do a trade run from hotan to dw..i didnt put my hunter on cos im only level 46 and i have seen alot of high level thiefs in the ravine lately...yea call me chicken but i just couldnt be arsed.....now here's the funny and quite clever part :? level 60+ thief comes running past, turns around....waits...waits...then all of a sudden...4 devil yetis :banghead: i managed to get away, but my partner didnt. :D

I was quite annoyed for the first few minutes....but then i got over it...was quite clever and easy for him i guess on his part, but then he had to kill the yetis before he could get the loot...

Most of the time I just suit hunter, kill, then take their goods

Only thing that sucks is when I relogin to find another thief taking goods, gotta do it again.

How is this any different than 1 star popping? It IS 1 star popping. When I see thieves 1 star pop, I just follow them and kill their NPCs if they're close enough level for me to handle it. Instead of wasting your time trying to find new clever ways to pop a 1 star trader, why not invest time into developing new and clever ways to hunt down and kill multi star traders?

If you were a thief in real life, would you rather find new ways to rob school children of their lunch money, or come up with clever plans to rob a bank or something? I still don't understand the attraction to 1 star popping. Whether it's wrong or not is besides the point. What's the point in it when there are much better targets out there?
