Just thought I would post some short tales on my experience as a noob in SRO.

Here I am minding my own business grinding Yeoha and Tigers on the road left of the Exorcists house. Now if you have been there much, you will notice it is a pretty busy trade run route. There had been about 7-8 caravans that had gone by as I was grinding at about 80% of Level 15. Then this trader (in thief gear) stops at the bridge (heading to Jangan I might add) and a couple of NPC thieves appear and he battles. THis is always fun to watch and I never get involved (to long grinding to lose XP like that).
Anyway, I watch then go back to my Yeoha grinding and I notice this guy come right up on me. I move away to the next Yeoha and there he is again. Two thieves appear and I run away to the other side of the street and mind my own business. After killing them both, he decides to come back over to me which I presume was to spawn more NPC. Finally I decide, I will go to the bridge and just sit (there are other players around grinding or doing whatever so I don't know why I was singled out). Finally this guy moves on.

Now here I am sitting on the bridge with people passing by and a hunter comes by (wearing the thief suit) and stops and looks at me. I don't get up or bother him. He goes over the bridge, down to the left looking away from Jangan and hides in the bushes. Okay, this will be interesting I think but I don't stand up. Finally fully str/int revived, I decide I might go ahead and grind to 100% and call it a night (it has already been about 2 hours of grinding). I stand up, this hunter/thief decides to pop me - one shot lighting arrow for 1350 dmg. Now I am level 14 pure str and even with all my blue, I am only at 1171 in str. Now I am dead for nothing minding my own business. I lose 1538 SP and now I am back to 78% on my 15. Okay that is only about 12 more Yeoha. I thought it was kinda funny but I also thought to myself, that is the kinda guy I want to pop back in about 20 lvls (maybe I need a friend to help but it will be a mission)

Thankfully a nice high lvl group came by and healed me within a couple of minutes (that noob murderer had dd'd out of there right after he popped me) So goes the life of a noob on the Silkroad.

nice to see people posting stories again :)

however, i'm a bit confused. first, you said that the trader was wearing thief gear, then that the hunter was. how could that be? no hunter can spawn thieves, and if the person was in thief gear, they'd need to have goods in their transport in order to spawn.

Let's see if I can explain...granted I have only been on SRO for about a month. The first guy was in thief gear but had a camel with goods and a bunny and a wolf so I think we was trading (he may of just had a suit that only looked like a thief but he looked the same as the spawned thieves). The second guy looked like he had the black thief suit on but he had the big thing on his back almost like a dreamcatcher (I think that is the hunter). He was just wandering around and didn't have a transport. He killed me and then within a few seconds was gone (disappeared I think).

Forgive me as I am still learning what everyone looks like.

hmm. there are a few sets of gear which could, i guess, be msiinterpreted as thief gear, namely the 3rd (?) degree garment hat which is shaped like that ofthe thief suit. the one you called a hunter was definitely a hunter, that "dream catcher" was the hunter identity card.

First one was a thief with a transport loaded with stolen goods. Second one was just a hunter, maybe in garm with one of those cone hats.

Last night I was out trying to level a wolf a guildmate lent to me, so I was having it fight tigers since it was only level 16. A pack of thieves came by, at least level 40+, with transports, they were wandering around looking for traders to pop. I guess they got bored and just started following grinders around to get their spawns to pop innocent players. They killed me, my wolf, and ALL other players in the general area, then refused to ress us. I got ticked off at my wolf dying and didn't feel like paying the 50k to have it revived yet, so I just took my bow out of storage to go farm on low level yeohas and such for alchemy items. Then ANOTHER theif comes up, just one this time, on transport and spawning level 50 thieves and he intentionally walked his transport right up to where I was so I'd die from the splash damage. I really hate thieves.

Yeah I was a bit confused by that too. I think that perhaps Wrath didn't realize that player thieves could have a transport, so he thought that the transport makes the player a trader... who happens to be wearing a thief suit.

The hunter as thief... I really don't have a guess about that one. Only remote thing I can think of is maybe that player was a thief but had a guild emblem that looks like a hunter icon, maybe.[/b]

Edit: posted this before I read the rest of the thread. Looks like Wrath explained himself more.

I think that first part is exactly what it was Prometheus. A thief with a transport and spawning thieves that he killed. That one wasn't that big a deal since the spawns didn't attack me and I got out of the way of that fight quickly. Thanks for clearing that one up.

The second guy might have just been wearing gear that looked similar to a thief - yeah I remember the hat mostly and he had a some color to him not all black like a thief. Now if he was a hunter killing low levels without jobs/capes/whatever does that make him a murderer and marked for a time period? The disappearing act I interpreted could have been me simply not being able to see where he went as I lie there on my back wondering if I should ask for res or just spawn back in Jangan. I am learning and no matter how annoying dying is I am having mad fun. I was always scared to try an mmorpg (especially since I have loved fantasy/medival/dragons etc since I was a little boy) because I hear it can be like crack.....well I am already an addict in a few weeks. LOL

Nice Jaja.......thanks for sharing and btw that sucks much how that went down. I was around there last night grinding tigers too for a while earlier so glad wasn't involved in that one too or I would be crying in my story.

If a player (in a job suit or not) kills you, the player's name will turn red meaning he is a murderer. Then he will have 1 of 2 choices: either grind on monsters a LOT to burn up murderer points, or get killed a few times by something (or just by sitting in town) to burn up murderer points.

Note: The exception is if you are both wearing capes (purchased at the general shop where you get earrings and such) then you can both kill each other without penalty.

Yes he could have just moved out of your sight range, or possibly logged out of the game. If he had a sort of blue glowing burst around his feet for a second first, he scrolled back to town.
