Hi All,
I am a blade/hybrid strenght lvl35. Im bored with grinding with 7 lvl gap. Ive been reading the posts here but most say don't do trade run coz i'll just get owned (even 1*).
Do u think its best if i just grind until lvl4x before doing solo trade run? Tnx[/quote]

Take a horse, and learn how to properly maneuver your horse to evade the poppers. and scroll out to get a better view.

I have done trades since level 21 solo or in a group, and I'm now only level 30. I just ran a batch of them last night, in fact, 4 back-to-back runs that were success. Sure, I've gotten nailed a few times, but overall I've succeeded about 80% of the time. Most of my fails were due to using a camel, though. You get more money with a 1* on them, but you cannot avoid being popped. A thief on a horse WILL nail you. However, on a horse you can easily outrun them. Even last night I started toward the Jangan ferry and ran into two level 6x thieves, one with a fireox and another on a white horse. I tried to just run past, which worked at first, but there was the second thief there blocking me. So I turned around and easily outran them, hit the other ferry and was fine. It's all in your route, and NOT letting a thief popper get their transport in front of yours. Since all trade horses are the same speed they cannot go faster than you unless you stop to fight things off. If you encounter a thief popper and he's chasing you, do NOT stop to fight off mobs, just keep running away until you are safe.

you mean i just stay in the horse and pot? i always thought i wouldn't profit if i waste a lot of pot so i used to just ran and let my tranport follow while i fight off mob. that explains my 20% success rate (i did make a few runs in my lvl2x).

If you are doing a solo trade run you need to know spots to avoid. This means don't go by the Jangan crossroads and Dead Ravine. When you are in open sight at a spot where lots of ppl are passing, such as the ferries, be quick and get out of there asap.
Bring lots of horse pills, who cares if you bring too many you can use them on your next trade run.
On solo runs, always use horses. You can outrun a 1* popper by weaving around and constantly changing direction.
I think you will be fine trading at your lvl. An added bonus for traders is that lately there seems to be a lot less job action going on other than job wars at the gates. I hardly see thieves at crossroads anymore

a one star trade run is going to cost you less than 20k, live a little, try it. Worst that happens is that you get popped and die, losing less than 20k and about 1% exp.
I really don't understand the fear people have. The whole purpose of the game is t o have fun. A little adrenaline rush from your first solo trade experience (succeed or fail) is a good thing.

The total panic rush I get from running a solo trade is the whole reason I do it. If I had nothing to worry about it would be far less fun (though I still think it is pretty pathetic for a level 6x thief to be popping in Jangan). Making it through the gates after all of the panic and fear of thieves hitting you is the greatest rush.
I hadn't done it in a while, actually, until last night I ran my first run with the level 30 transport. I don't really make any more money or anything than if I had just been out grinding, but it gives me something else to do instead of just killing mobs for hours.
@jichiong, no I don't mean stay on the horse the whole time. Fight off the mobs and protect the horse as much as possible. ONLY when you are being chased by a thief popper do you want to just run as fast as possible, ignore any mobs, and pot your transport until you are safe. Your only goal in THAT situation is to stay away from the higher level thieves from targeting your transport.

Tnx all!
@Jaja, i know what you mean by the rush, i like it as well, i just hate it when high levels popped me when i was in my 2x. So i didn't do any trade runs, i figure i might as well do quest to avoid the boring grind mode. but now reaching lvl35, i like to give it another try, i'd like to see if i can hit lvl 2 trade before lvl40.
I try to help out 2x doing 1* by killing mobs off their backs (not in job suit) but when a high lvl wana pop, there only so much a lvl35 can do.

Yea, the adrenaline rush hits me when I do trade runs.
Even when I just traced someone from hotan to Jangan I was hyped up and couldn't sleep for a while.
