another boredom streak hits, so i look at graphics settings, come look with me, comfortable? good, lets go.
first pic, this is the absolute minimum settings, view distances at 1, everything off, the only thing high is the resolution, at 1024 x 768.
with this setting i can storm through donwhang packed with shops, labels on and whatnot with the only problem of finding an empty space to lcick and run.
picture two, everything is at absolute maximum, distances 5, everyuthing on, res 1024 x 768.
at this point my computer is having an asthma attack, or at least sounds like it, so im not a dual core liquid nitrogen packin mofo, i will be one day, anyway, It jumps a lil bit when rotating camera, and everyones skippy in town. but, it's also pretty, oyu can see things in the background, the detail on My suit is lovely, instead of blurred crap.
what I don't get is this glowy shit, come on, i dont go outside in real life and fricken glow!
also the shadows are highlky accurate, water looks awesome, except the reflection is wrong ^^
out in the open world, the lag actually drops and proves to be a nice bit of gaming.
so what do you guys prefer? smooth looks, or smooth moves? does it really matter that much? its enjoyment of playing with friends that matters afterall.
whats your usual settings? and do you knock them up a notch for pretty pictures?
I don't, I suck, I'm not a photographer xD

well, higher res is a must-- i have a pretty big monitor and it at 1600x1200 you get a lot of real estate for your menus and panels (like sometimes i run around with my friends panel, inventory, full size map open without too much problem) --> with the graphics settings, I'd say it's just best to optimize-- just enough so it doesn't lag terribly. I just keep them on normal.
One of the coolest things is the solar flare when the sun catches the 'lens' and the fact that the clouds move. that's so f-ing realistic. heck yea

i run thing half moderately, no water reflections, shadows on circle, 3 viewing distance, 5 to character, res at 1280x1024. lags like MAD at loadup, semi-laggy in jangan, fighting is perfectly fine as long as i dont zoom in as a skill's being used (at which point 1 frame goes by every.... 1-2 seconds...) i also wondered where glow came from, there's no setting to activate/de-activate it... despite that, i think SRO looks better with glow (trees look better, but the backs of females turn into miniature suns... oi its bright....)

I don't think you can have maximum settings yet, I heard medium was the highest, any higher and the game crashes, it's the water that does it.
I have a really fast PC and maximum settings just crashes the game lol

I set mine on "Low" and then put the view distances both up to 4. "Medium" is not healthy for my video card, and although I would like nicer graphics I'm not going to sacrifice performance for them. They're fantastic even on "Low".

I don't really care what mine are (dont even know what there are right now ).
When i'm atacking something, I don't realy care if my 68374 peices of hair all move in the perfect formation at the extact perfect timing, all I care about is that I don't get caught up in a lag spike.
I just turned down the graphics to the lowest and WOW, it was so smooth, no lag whatsoever, I think I might keep it like that.

out of curiosity, how old are you, and did you purchase that system on your own?

i love good graphics
I play with everything set to high, except shadows that are set to "circle".
I also have 4xAA and 4xAF forced by drivers. but somehow, it doesnt seem to work as it should...
my system is a P4@3,6ghz, 1gb OCZ ram and a geforce 6800.
it is good everywhere (around 70FPS) except in town when it has lots of people (15-20FPS).

I got everything high except for shadows. For some reason i get low frames per second with that shadows on when i cant even see them!
Im farming on penons, on the ice shadows do not show up and i get screen lag with shadows on.
I look directly into the sky and turn shadows on, guess what? SCREEN LAG! i cant see anything except clouds, and there are no shadows on the clouds!
I dont get how the shadows work, it dosnt make any sense
EDIT: bah, old thread, oh well, ive been meaning to rant about that for a while!

His sig is one of those dynamic ones that shows his xfire status i believe, they have to be in png format

I am in max settings thanks to windows Vista.
Although glitchy with SRO I can max out without framerate loss oddly enough.

I can max 'em out at 1280x1024, or have 'em low on 800x600 and still only 'round 10-ish FPS out grinding. =/ So I usually play @ 1280x1024 with 3 character/draw distance, everything else off.
