i'm just wondering because i'm lvl 33 at the mo and my wolf is stronger than me and its lvl 24
it seems a little meh but i do still do a lot more damage to monsters my 27+
my blades phy attack is 147-167 and its a + 1 blade (lunar)
my wolfs phy attack is 213-248 with a hit ratio of 73
im thinking they are so strong simply because of their price tag, they are a special item for us anyway
but still it seems odd, when my wolfs my level he'll be tonnes stronger than me
then again i guess its kinda cool

I remember someone saying that wolves have 5 points going to STR per level as opposed to the 4 you have(I'm assuming you are pure STR.) That could be the reason.

Wolf's attack is just bs. I use my wolf to take damage, so I can survive as a wizard.

Bear in mind grap3s, wolves don't have attack skills with certain damage multipliers, they have basic physical attacks (bites). So although their bite might hurt more than your common attack, the actual skill damage you distribute will be much higher (and quicker too, especially chains).

Heres the theory
As SRO gets higher and higher caps, it becomes harder and harder to lvl. We all saw the introduction of item mall and auto pot, which potentially more than quadrupled grinding speed.
Then we saw the introduction of wolves. This was another way for a character to lvl up quicker. The wolf provided that bit of damage which would turn a 3 hit mob into a 2 mob.
We then saw the introduction of alchemy. This allowed for someone to get potentially 55 str and intl on their gears. This allowed for even quicker lvling.
We now have pt mobs and the new partying system which allows us to lvl even quicker
But why has joymax done this?
Well if they didnt we would all be struggling to get to the 80 cap, let alone to 90 cap. We would of quit along time ago and when we quit, no more money for sro.
So theres your answer, with alot of other crap.

I guess it's a pretty good theory. Let Joymax inplement more of those grinding speed increasers.

Bravo man,
and
Holy crap, that was one of the most resourceful and informative post detailing Joymax's strategy and updates to Silkroad since 2005.
You deserve an applause for that, and it makes sense too. I am going to get my white wolf back from out of the basement.
Lvl 80 here i come

I fail to see whether you are trying to be satirical or not. I see a hint or it in your words, but it could just be me implying it. Nevertheless, bleh.

Cuz ur weak, that's all
But u have magic dmg from imbue and u have skill. Wolf is purely str and has same dmg as monsters, defense, hit, parry as mob same lvl.

it was more logical, wolves help us to lvl and to lvl faster same as auto pots and alchemy
in all you should have been able to put together all the new updates and figure out that it would help us to lvl faster, nothing too complicated
but yea i didnt necessarily think joymax were doing it as a strategy to help us i thought they were JUST updates

Think about it though. Joymax is a business. The aim of a business is to make money. The only reason they release updates is to keep people playing the game and hence to make money.
And what most MMO gamers realize is that its the journey of getting from lvl 1 to lvl 80 what matters, not the simple destination of being lvl 80. And due to this, they implement measures that will make people lvl up quicker. So people buy more silk as they enjoy lvling up quicker, etc.
Simple business logics and i dare anyone to argue with my logic.

Sadly though, I think a lot of gamers do NOT realize this. A lot of gamers just want to reach cap, not enjoy the journey in getting there. Which is why we have "afk grinders".
I agree though, it's the journey that matters. As for the wolf's strength, I think they have to be a bit stronger than you, otherwise they'd never be able to do any damage at your level. If their stats matched yours, they would hit as hard as you would with your fists. Wolves have no weapon and no skills, so they need to be stronger. Plus they're there to help you grind harder and faster.

I do a lot more dmg than my wolf, and my wolf attacks like once every 4 seconds. Ugh!

Yeah I've always thought wolves should fight in the same style as white tigers. Varying power depending on level of course, but they should be jumping, swatting, biting, tackling, etc. Not just hop, bite, stand, wait, hop, bite, stand, wait....

Best strategie for solo giants with your euro char: send the wolf and let them get 1/4 of the hp bar, then you can engage and the giant never turn agro on you
Don't try this with special quest mobs (treasure guardians, etc) because don't work.
Salu2.
