Does anyone know how to change the settings so my laptops screen does not go black when I stall overnight? I wake up with a big fat disconnected sign. I stayed up for an hour until the screen went black and it desconnects me. I was thinking of a vibrator on the mouse that goes off every 45 minutes so the mouse doesnt let it go black screen

Anyone know how to change that or have a vibrator for me?

or go to properties(on desktop) Screensaver and set it to go black every 9999 minutes =p

I don't have Vista myself, but I did have the release candidate version before it was released to the public. If I remember correctly, you can right click the desktop and hit "personalize" and there should be screen settings or power settings in there.

Alternatively, go to the start menu, control panel, and look for power settings, or display settings. There should be a setting to tell it when to go to sleep (you want never) and when to hibernate (never).

Thx guys. I decided to put a penny on the Z key and it doesnt go black. Since if im typing I remove it and if im not then its pressing that down while in game which it shows items that are dropped. Anyone know that this work?

Or leave a text notebook open and hit z lol?

I usually get dc ove rnight , but i dont think its because of the black screen, cause tonight I didnt got any dc and it was on black screen this morning

At some point your modem (or Internet connection) Must be tired(or over used) And it just shut's off for a few second's and you lose connection to sro

that theory is so true , all u do is turn of ur modem for like 10 - 20min let it cool down then u turn it on an login sro and stall =P it works for me

your computer is set to sleep for a certain time.....

Here's the instructions on how to change it.....

Click on "Start"
On the Search Bar type "Power Options" then hit Enter
A new screen should pop up.
Select a Power Plan you want to use, then click on "Change Plan Settings"
You should see a screen that says "Turn off the display" and "Put the computer to sleep". The turn off the display just strictly turns the display off. The sleep is basically shutting your computer down, same concept.

Now, click on "Change advanced power settings"
There you can set anything you want. Make sure you set the sleep one to "Never" just hit "0" if you want to set the computer to sleep to "Never"

Well I put the settings so i'll only hope. If my connection goes off it'll leave me in the game but it'll say disconnected from server. This morning I woke up and the game was off and it showed my desktop, hence its the black thing. Lets just hope it works.

Noobs, burn with your "theories"

Your PC goes on to "Stand By" mode(Black screen)... When the PC is inactive for a few minutes.

You can Disable it by... Right your desktop > Click properties > Go to Screensaver tab > Click the "Power" button(on that window not in your CPU) > Look for "System Standby" then adjust it to "Never"

LOL, ye thats what I told them on my previous post.

Standby is what you call it on XP but its now called sleep on Vista.

But, once your computer goes to sleep, everything basically goes off. Your computer is still running but running at the lowest power consumption possible thus only your cpu and hard drive is turned on. Once you wake it up from sleep, everything goes back on, your internet and what not. You will be disconnected from the internet if your computer goes to sleep.

I've discovered that ever since I made a new user to test the multiclient trick thing (which doesnt work), the computer goes to sleep mode in the middle of the night and goes to the user selection screen. For some reason I dont get disconnected like I used to during stalling.

No. Sro random disconnects (esp. in peak hours) within 10 minutes of inactivity. Tested today with 2 PCs, one active the other afk. After 10 minutes, the inactive laptop DCed. The internet was still working. Tried it thrice more and the same results.

And so you're saying that my modem disconnected 4 times in equal intervals only during the period i was testing afking for 10 minutes, and selectively DCed only 1 of my computers, which are configured exactly the same, leaving the other one connected?
