What is everyones opinion on buying gold from websites? I don't think I ever would do that, but what's the difference between spending $10.00 on silk to purchase potions/scrolls/a pet, or going out and spending $10.00 on 20 million gold?

The only difference I see is that buying gold is probably illegal and buying the silk is sponsored by the game and legal.

well the main reason people buy gold is to buy elixirs, sos items and many other items that can't be bought by silk

gold buying is illegal and I will never do it...

but everyone has there choice..if they wanna buy gold, they buy gold...but if they think its wrong they wont

never bought gold in any game cause I'd rather make my own money and have my own equipment form what i've earn. But I would rather buy gold from a website then buying an astral. astral = 5$ 5$= around 10-15m so around 50-80 elixir. you gotta suck if you cant get it back to +4 lol <_<

I don't see why it would be illegal. If someone wants to buy 20 million gold so they can get a SOS or SOM item, then why is it so shunned apon?

I have played several other MMO's and sometimes, you HAVE to buy ingame currency in order to actually compete on the market. I know that SRO is very different (i'm new, but from what I see, it is really easy to make a lot of money, really fast). Example: I used to play Lineage 2, and in order to actually compete seriously and survive in the game, you had to at some point purchase in game currency, and if you didn't you were very very gimp, unless someone gave you items for free (which never happened)

yeah shocker i agree with ya, and when u get capped u'll wanna buy as much as elixirs as u can get, about 120 mil worth of elixirs to +5 your eq, also not to forget u need a fancy sos 8d weap, it would be impossible to save that much money on ur own.

I'm still new, so I don't know what "elixers" are or what they do.

I don't even know how to use the alchemy system, so I just put all the stones that I find in my bank. I still have to figure out how to use them and make items.

Probably the wrong forum, and I know it's off topic but does anyone have a link to a guide or a website that I can go to that explains the Alchemy system??

Back on topic. The more I think about it the more I would like to buy gold, but I just don't want to get banned from the game or get shunned by the people I play with. Spending $10.00 on silk for whatever I can get from the item mall, or $10 on 20 million gold....I am 100% sure that the gold will serve a better purpose.

pm me and if your not on my server ill tell you how i made 20mill and bought me and 4 of my real life friends wolfs, all done in a weekend. and none of us (me and my friends) are above lvl 17. and none of us know anyone else in the game. i know 20 mill isnt a lot, but i cant seem to spend it all at my level. i plan to triple it by this weekend. and im just a noob. lol.

Gold is illegal, but all these gold farmers and spammers in town dont get banned for weeks. It shows how active JoyMax is towards gold farming.

Even still, i think JoyMax sells them gold at set price and they simply re-sell them.

What makes me say that?
I visited one of their sites one day and they showed a "LIVE" server gold amount, which users can buy from. I saw it around 4pm being around 375million in XIAN (from the supgold company i think). Around 6.30pm i saw the xian storage amount for sale at over 830mil... now iam no maths person, but iam almost 99% sure thats impossible (considering these bots are not controlled, they just npc everything - even sosun).

Buying gold is what made so many problems with this game, goldbots=all the problems in the game, i wish Joymax would have that when you go to make a new account, letting you know it exists,a nd what it does for the game, i think a lot of goldbuying comes from new players who cant compete without buying gold

I am a realist. I know majority of people above 60 by gold on a regular basis.
But saying no one will know is a joke. Anyone who makes money in game without cheating will know you are full of shit.

I wrote an entire guide on ways to make money. (link is in my signature) There is one key aspect that gives away the gold buyers. Can you guess what it is?

Gold buying causes spiraling ingame inflation. OK, so for the sake of argument, the average guy at level 80, doing normal stuff can save around 100 mil. That would force a cap on the sale of premium items like SoSun to about double that price. Why? Cause if he makes it more than that, no one will buy it. But then someone buys gold and starts buying out premium items from guy A. Guy B sees that and sells his premium items for more. Someone else buys MORE gold and buys them. Guy C sees that sells his premium items for more. Someone buys even MORE gold. It's a steady upward spiral till a legit player cannot have a premium item unless he finds it himself. A secondary effect is gold bots and gold companies. In repsonse to someone else making real money off the gold industry, they try to join in. That means more gold for less money and more gold bots, speeding up the process of inflation.

Buying gold is a purely selfish act that does nothing but eff up the game.

Sad thing is, it happens in ALL popular MMO's. Lineage 2, WoW, Everquest, Everquest2, Eve.

The funny thing is, I used to play Lineage 2 ever since closed beta. When the game finally went live, and everyone was starting from level 1. You could slowly see the economy form, and it was nice. Then you see all these adena (in game currency for lineage 2) farmers and you can slowly see the economy slip. Now if you were to start playing the game after so long, with all of these farmers, you are required to spend at least $100 us in order to be able to compete with the end game people that are already established because of the curve in the market. It's actually kind of funny.

i honestly havent bought anygold, havent even sold a global for gold, but im lvl 60 fully farmed with d7/d6/d5 sos sets full blues with d7 sos s/s d6 sos sword and tons of low lvl sos/so, plus i stilla hve 100mil gold

On Topic: Buying gold supports the gold companies, who in turn make more gold bots, who in turn fill up 2/3 of every server. So.... buying gold = bad

You are a complete and utter moron. I asked a simple question on what the community though about this type of behavior. I have yet to buy gold and I probably won't becaue I spent enough money on Lineage 2 (though I got it all back when I quit because I re sold it all to guildies). Your points are correct though, I do agree with you that buying gold messes up the economy. But take a look at other games, it does the same exact thing. And so what if you can pursuade 2 or 3 people from buying gold, there will always be that one other person that buys it to get the 20 million gold item. Sooner or later the economy will bottom out just like it did in lineage 2. You can fight and argue tooth and nail, but the fact is, gold buying is part of the game, and will continue forever. It will probably even get worse if/when this game becomes pay to play.

Go have a drink or two or take a chill pill. You shouldn't get so worked up over a) a video game and b) a simple question.

if jm did an anti bot thingy every week, then the gold comps would get so ticked off... they will increase thier prices.

I have to go with night and the others who have chimed in with similar. Plain and simple the only reason people have to buy gold is because people buy gold. It does not matter if you did not read about it being illegal. All that means is that you did not read the TOS as it is in there. If there is one thing that is the worst about the game is the gold botters and the buyers that encourage them. making it impossible to log on almost any time of day unless you have premium. I have friends that have bought gold. They are still my friends etc. But you know what I tell them. This is all their fault. Honest truth.

Some people can't stand hard work or honest competition in anything they do. It is just human nature. They can't grok that someone can derive fun from such a game without cheating. My char may be underfarmed and my gear may be under pimped. But it is mine. I have worked for every last SP and every last blue stat etc. And would not have it any other way.. And don't mistake it for some form of jealousy. Just the honest opinion of a player legit since 2005. I still enjoy the game etc. But it upsets me to see what it has become in light of what it could have been. Each server able to hold up to 3000 people but not enough actual players on most times to have any fun. unless you like watching gold bots farm.

So this is the score.
Buy gold if you like as in later levels you will just be an average player. Just never ever have the audacity to complain about town spam, server traffic, or bot infestations. As this is exactly what you are paying for. Complaning would be hypocritical.
