So I was looking around for a trade run, being only 2% away from level 4 hunter, and found a big, dual 5 star going from Samarkand to Consti. I joined up, and got a buddy from my guild to come, so we had the 2 traders, and 4 hunters, 2 level 80's, a level 77 (me) and a level 76.

Right after we left Sam, we got into it with multiple thieves, all high level, all euro, and 2 with union mercs. We dropped them, they dropped us, and we went back and forth for a while until they finally took down one of the transports (the other logged off) and got away with the goods.

So all the hunters were scowering the area outside of Sam for them, but we could only get to them 1 or 2 at a time, and although we dropped their transport several times, we couldn't take out the multiple, euro-buffed thieves.

I gave up, having wasted a couple res scrolls, and was on my way back to Sam when a rogue stealh attacked me, crit, and 1 hit me, then camped waiting for me to res or go back to town.

I told him, "listen, I just want to res and run back to town so I don't lose my teleport spot at generals for reverse return".

He just called me a noob and waited for me to res, even after I assured him I have no intention of going after the caravan.

So I ressed, put on snow shield, grass walk, and beat him back to town.

So I'm curious to the thieves out there, would you let a hunter walk away if they told you they didn't care about the caravan?

considering you already attacked them a few times... its kind of hard to believe you would just leave...

Well, when it's 4 of them and their mercs versus just me, logic would mandate that there's no way I have a chance, and running is the logical answer.

I'd let you walk, but then again: I'm also honorable enough not to attack caravans without 8D hunters/traders. As long as someone in the caravan's using 8D they're mine, but otherwise I'll let them walk. You can tell I haven't made thief level 4 yet. :)

When you put on the job suit expect to be killed and get ready to kill.
Simple as that. There is no walking away.

If you asked in a mature way like you said, yeah I would probably let you go. Its always nice to see people talking like humans rather than "ZOMG YOO NUUUBBB FAK YOU MAM!" "RESSSSSSSSSS PLYYYZ."

But you should not expect it not only because the majority of the SRO community are complete idiots... but because its just part of having your job suit on.

When i was thieving all hunters were scum...i doubt much has changed so yeah if you got up i'd kill you probably for shits and giggles more than anything but also because i KNOW a hunter would never let a thief just walk away after attacking a caravan so why should i give you that courtesy....

Do you expect a bank robber to be polite? Well, I like it how most of the thieves are morons/pricks, makes things spicy.

It's anyone's game now when you job. Which is why msot people use mercs at higher levels, even sosun users. It's all about dominating people :\ Ethics go out the window when you job, lol. So don't expect people to be nice.

This is why I miss the penalty system with thieves, even as a former thief. It enticed you to only kill the absolute minimum amount of people in order to reap their rewards less you go into wanted status. I think its return would restore some sort of honor to thieving system.

Well I guess I'm one of the few that actually play a decent, ethical character, take what happened what a few hours after that debacle.

I joined a party with a 2x trader and a 5x hunter, it was the traders first run. I guess before I joined this 5x thief was talking shit to the hunter and they wanted to settle it outside. After I joined though, he was scared to go (I'm 7x with +7 s/s), but I told him, very matter-of-factly that he and the hunter can go outside and settle their differences without my interference during their 1vs1.

So I sat right outside the gates, let them fight with zero involvement by myself. Coincidentally, the hunter killed the thief and we went about our merry way.

I understand that the system is understood by the common player as thiefs vs hunters and traders, regardless of circumstance. If I was outside the gates and saw a low level thief standing there, I'd drop him in a second, but if he saw me first and asked me to show him some mercy, I would, no questions asked.

Besides, the 80 hunter experience I get from killing him wouldn't make that much of a difference anyways, and my ego isn't so big that I need to kill a 5x thief to feel better about myself and get the opportunity to call someone a noob.

I agree completely Laughing but I think in this case more than any other "no honor among thieves" applies. I have seen thieves murder each other over stolen goods. Even go as far to enlist hunters to kill off competing thieves.

Conversely I see a lot of Hunters acting high and mighty solely for being their job. Being a hunter isn't more honorable than being a thief its the player who plays them that needs to be such; and sadly there aren't many of them left.

I don't know what kind of people you're used to playing with, but I don't gloat about having res scrolls. I just don't like wasting xp that I worked to get. It's pissy, hateful little people like you, the kind that get pissed because they can't afford to buy silk, that makes this game go downhill for me.

And I'm sure you'll retort with some self-righteous little rant about not wanting to buy silk because you don't support joymax and their questionable business practices, and/or shoddy player support.

But thanks for telling me what I already know, that the majority of the players that play this game and aren't bots are self serving little douche bags, who make themselves feel better by kicking someone when they're already down.

I camped this wizrd hunter before after we robbed their trade, he kept ressing himself though, killed him like 5-6 times before he finally left. No I'm not giving them a chance to regroup or go invis and come after us, do what you gotta do. If someone dropped an item or something when they died I'd give it back to them , but that's the extent of my honor ingame

i agree, "no honor among thieves"

the only time i kill a lower level thief is if he's attacking a trader, or if he somehow decides that he can try to hurt me.

what kind of thief are you....penalty was one gheyest thing ever...hunters could kill you as many times as they wanted at the gate but thiefs had to risk getting a wanted for just defending themselves if they stayed near the gate to long...

I've learned to not let people run.. cuz they will "stalk" you... especially if you're a hunter.. you need to kill them NOW so the can't call friends and follow behind.. i guess same applies to thieves too  let em run, they will tag you for friends.. call union. and/or get mercs all over your butt
