Edit: Your own decision if you read this or not, If you refuse to I respect your decision but do not make any retarded posts then.
I think I have been playing SRO for over two years now and yes i still play actively (well since yesterday that is). I just reached fully farmed again with one of my characters and as a matter of fact I'm still loving it. However after all those years you will realise that you play this game for yourself but for a community. You play to have fun with other people who have the same opinion about things you have and want to have fun and respect people. Atleast that where two things I always wanted to achieve. I started off on the server Babel with a few friends where I didn't play long and I also visited the server Athens till level 42 where I did meet some cool people but things did not work out for me. When I started on Alps cause of a friend (I think around 2 years ago already) I started to feel at home and really started to have fun playing the game. That was mainly to do cause of the people around me. I joined in my opinion one of the best guilds around on the server, PimpMySilkNL, where everyone seemed to want the same thing, friendship, respect and fun. At the beginning of the 80 cap it got boring for most of the people I played with and alot of players quit the game. I stayed and joined a different guild with as of that moment a person who was a very good friend of mine. I've always found friendship important when it comes to playing on a community based game. You spent alot of time on it so it is important to have people around you where you have fun with, you have more fun playing with other people then just caring about yourself. It started out to be a very good guild including the help of me and my remaining friends it turned out to be at one point even one of the strongest guilds on the server. With the keywords having fun and showing respect to people who sometimes do not even deserve it. At that point the server became more and more active however it was summer time and I went on vacation for 4 weeks. When I came back Euro came out and I found again alot of my friends and people from the guild quit. I still had people at that time who where very close to me. I am a person who would do anything for their friends, I shared most of my accounts with atleast a group of 3 people and I even bought silk for alot of them. Anyway in one way or another I got leadership of the guild again and after a long period of just 2 or 3 people being online of the 40 (all inactive due to quitting) we managed with a close group of people to get to the point again where we had 50 active players (in the first fortress war) a highly active union with people who all had the same thought of mind. I got my friends again in my union talked to new people which I thought where suitable to have in the union and guilds who want to achieve the same as I and my friends want. Respect, fun, a good time and with those keywords maybe make a good chance of owning the fortress. As a union leader I had to make decisions I did not like, I had to choose between bad or worse, I got involved into things I shouldnt be involved in and I had to fix problems of people who are twice the age of me and acted like little children. I realised that you can never keep everyone happy in this game, not on the server, not even in your union, not even in the guild. There will always be problems occuring with people being mad for one reason and pissing other people off for another. I've always treated people with respect and changed from only thinking about myself to letting other people have fun and organising events for them to have fun. I've learned that in order to win a guildwar or even a fortress you need to respect your opponent and never underestimate them. I've been apart in the biggest conflicts and wars on this server and won and lost and learned alot of it. Just lately I figured out it all does not matter. It is a game and I tried to realise people its a game, I even tried to play the game and even as a leader let other people have as much fun as possible while saving conflicts. I must agree I aswell have done some things to people which I should not have done by involving myself into it but I apologized for my mistakes and learned to live with it, Im not perfect nobody is. But what really hurts the most is when you see that you've always honored the words of respect, fun and being friendly and then by getting the fortress get the hatred of alot of people on you for no reason. People saying your union is nothing but shit talkers who gangbang people. Now I don't care about alot of people but especially if those people are close and where close friends of you who you respect. I've seen close friends of mine quit the game, I've lead a leading union and I've seen friendships of mine get ruined by decisions I had to make.
In the end whats worth it to play SRO? Friendship? As I found out friendship on a game is far from stable and can be gone within one minute of saying something (excluding some people where I am still in touch with after 2 years but those can be counted on 1 hand). Respect? You can show as much respect as you want in the end there are always people who just disrespect you and couldn't care less about what you do. It does not matter if I swear at a person or shout I love you towards him for some reason he'll think the same of me. Fun? Now thats something which is worth it, however there are always people who try to ruin your fun and who couldnt care less about what they do or say. I've had my fun playing this game however it came to the point where it only gets worse and where I got to make decisions I do not want to make. Fun does not last forever, not even on a game, you will have your upsides and downsides simply for the fact that whenever your having fun another person is not.
Reason why I wrote this? I guess I asked myself in the end what I achieved into playing SRO for this long. I guess I learned alot about people and how things go down which are even usefull to know in real life. In the end your dealing with people. I just dont know if it was worth it playing this game for so long.

I did read it all. And I feel what you feel..
I am also a union leader and as you stated above it is really hard to keep everyone happy. You can't. I tried to make everyone have fun. But in the end you fix 1 problem and a new problem comes.
And yes, friendship in this game comes & goes, too bad it does.

i was stunned... it was like a critical hit on me from a pure STR Archer who launched a Strong Bow - Craft.
i understand what you feel, i'm a addicted player on Sro, but it doesnt mean that i havent learn anything that could be applied in real life. you are also right on decision making, i was once a leader in my school, and i was a high ranking one. i was forced to make decisions on a certain item on which to pick, both contribute the same functions, capability, effectiveness, and also its efficient-ness it delivers when applied. i got to make the decision. The next day i made my decision from gathered opinions from my parents and also some of my friends. it was a success, i made the right choice, but the problem is the group that i havent chose refuses to respect me anymore. the decision that i made, made them to hate me rather than take the fact that i made a organized decision. till now they just ignore when ever i great them, but most of them just forgave me and just understand.
also ppl today are just playing not for fun... i think its greed, the greed on dominating someone, you want to be the most powerful player in the server, and forget the fact that the game must be played for fun.

Well thank God I have guild with my friends from RL, we know each other for at least 4-5 years. We argue(can't have love without arguing ) but it isn't something that should be considered as serious and that it might affect on future of our guild. We are just too good friends with same opinions about almost everything.

Hej there really nice post forreal Ive read it all Respect +1 granted Like many others.. its the people around you that makes you wanna play.. having fun and getting respect cause of who you are and what you do, but do know that there are Haters Everywhere, I usually don't mind about the hatred if there is one going on.. I just mail them to the CareBox.. about beiing a leader is something different than the regular players, ive never been union leader but ive been guild leader.. had some ghosts in it, oh well, was easier for me to join another guild buuuttt okay lets get it on, beiing union leader is pretty hard i guess cause you need to make hella a lot of actions, and you can't make perfect actions, you said it yourself we are not perfect even bots aint perfect cause they get stuck sometimes at NPC , and descisions you make affect people differently, okay its sad to read that some of your descisions didnt work so well for some.. but hey I don't think you could do better, you do what you think is right, right? I guess beiing unionleader is like beiing JoyMax and the rest is like the customer, you fix a problem once in a while, and a new problem occurs, and hard to keep the rest satisfied What you have achieved in 2 years playing Silkroad? You learned something more about humanity.

Sorry to say this, but welcome to the world of iSRO. 99% of people here only play for greed, power, domination. Hell that is why we have so many bots, they want to dominate! And legits are not perfect too, on a server i'll give it a 100/3400 between legits and bots, and at least half of these legits are whiny losers who will end up botting. iSRO is not the kind of game in which you can have a perfect life, arguments arise all the time, hatred is as common as snow in Antarctica and on top of that you can't even have real fun without investing a thousand dollars to the horrible company known as Joymax, hell you can't even PvP under lv 70 because some fully farmed sun botter will 1 hit you all the time. This is not kSRO where everything is based on honor, this is iSRO where you will get hated for having a SoS weapon.
