Well I remember when summon scrolls first came out me and my guild went below Hotan south gate and next to the side of the bridge you can go underneath the water and hotan.
Now for this to work you must find the gold bots that follow gold trails, which most of them do. then you have to lure them to the bridge spot then manage to lay gold in a straight enough line to get them below hotan then
wow i just now realized with that last sentence they can just return scroll.
still a good idea though I think.

it works if you go to north bridge and they cant scroll if hotan is their set town since they are still in town
you can get out if you are trying all directions but bots dont
I've return-scrolled to Hotan from Hotan before, so gold bots could too.
As for luring the bots under the bridge... Why don't you just go under the bridge yourself and drop a few gold coins down there? I used to do something similar in donwhang to lure 10-50 grabber pets onto a single spot and keep them there for a few minutes before they "explode" and run back to their owners in one big grabber-pet-boom.
Drop some gold under the bridge and maybe the gold bots will hump the bridge for a while trying to get the gold.

Not possible, goldbots will only do their business at town when they die or repot, they only teleport when they're out of range, they'll teleport if they're ANYWHERE away from the set training area

If a gold bot is running across the south Hotan bridge, and tries to pick up a piece of gold that you placed UNDER the bridge, would it give up and teleport, or just hump the edge of the bridge forever trying to get that gold? If it teleports, it would just head back out the bridge, find the gold again and try to get it.

no, if they get stuck they tele too
So in theory, you could drop gold under the bridge and send the gold bots on an endless loop of run out the gate, get stuck, teleport, run out the gate, get stuck, teleport...
I can trap grabber pets in certain areas with a piece of gold.

Just get a lvl 80 blader trader / hunter and get some lightning thiefs attacking him. Put him on a spot where a lot of gold bots stop by, and watch. (Make sure the transfer pwns the bots, otherwise it doesnt work.)
They lose a lot of XP if you stay there next to the town
Delevel them enough so they can't use their weapons or armor. Monsters will do the rest for you. Any less and you won't have made an impact on the economy at all.

for the thief spawning thing to work you need to be there for a LONG time and you either need silk pots and repair hammer or you need people rotating, but yes still a good way, mines just an idea.
