I just started playing SRO again for a while. I decided to make a new character, and Jangan is a ghost town. There are just bots and spammers. There are hardly any stalls and no one buys some seriously discounted items from me. When I play, there are no humans grinding on monsters except me.

And it's no just for new characters either (which totally ruins the experience for new players, by the way). I've been grinding in Hotan as well with my other character, and I only see bots.

What has this game become? There is so little interaction anymore. The only place to actually see people is inside cities in their stalls or outside the walls PVPing. There is no one to grind with. No one to chat with. No one to hunt, trade, or thieve with. Overwhelmingly, all I see is bots.

My best guild recruiting comes from running bot traps in Jangan. New chars come up and ask me what I'm doing or saying thanks. We usually talk for a bit and if they seem cool, I'll join them. Jangan's much quieter now but the majority of new builds are euro and even the smart chinese move to euro to grind.

On Venus, Samarkand is very busy and filled with legits. You'll see lots of BHA there. Hotan is also very busy with legits.

You should go on newer server ... seriously in Babel almost 99% are 60++ and about 70% guys have capped character ... go on Hera / Venus ...

We've all boycotted Jangan because of the guild/union occupying fortress. Take your newb to Const - i always find a party to grind with and there are no bots to ks you...you can always find a clear spot to grind for hours.

Donwhang is the ghost town on Hera. I haven't been to the euro cities recently, but Jangan is the bot mine. There are around 5 stalls in Jangan, 0 in donwhang, and 50 in hotan. Its a result of new players trying the game but instantly quitting because of server traffic and gold bots...and lack of stalls selling items under 7d.

Never saw this problem on Aege.
All the towns are filled except for Jangan. Jangan is just filled with people that want to pvp at Jangan South. All the euro towns are crowded. DW is crowded with tons of people that want to pvp as well and low lvls that stall. Hotan is crowded beyond belief with stalls. But yes I do know what you mean when it comes empty zones. When I went thieving I never saw anyone in the lower lvl zones. Most common for me to see some real player while thieving was in Hotan. Thieving in Takla as well but most of them are player bots, so it doesn't really count.

Damn those bots...

24/7 the servers are full, and I've got SRO again for a week, but I haven't been able to play again because it would go too late for me and destroy me in IRL...

I can't go to school after I've been trying to log on all night! :x :banghead:

Yes, I think the biggest problem that this represents is a complete lack of new players. First, if a new players somehow, someway receives a miracle and is able to connect to a server, they will be sadly disappointed by spammers and botters.

Additionally, it means there is no one to play or grind with. This is especially bad for the new players, because they will receive no help (it's a very hard game without someone to help explain things). Grinding becomes even worse now, because of no one to talk to.

It means doing jobs becomes boring. I ran all the way from Hotan to Jangan and saw not one person doing a job. Sad.

Does anyone remember the good ol' days? The days when there would constantly be people doing jobs? People to actually buy and sell from (besides Hotan)? Random people trying to level up? People actually playing the game?

Jobbing is still done but now its much more of hunter vs thieves. No one really does trade runs anymore. The chances are against you with the clerics ressing the thieves and the hunters. Eventually the loot just disappears.
Yes I do miss the good old days. Nothing beat 60 cap. Back when I started I met so many nice people that used to grind along side me and help me with giants and such. Compared to that this game has gone downhill however comparing it to the depth of the game it has improved. You can't win it all.

Ah well...i've quit sro around 2 months ago after i sold all suns i had and after i got scammed for l33t3st sun +7 sword on athens from uni mates...
but yeah this is what happen when u trust to wrong person =D i wont blame anyone except myself cuz of dat D: 1 foult is enough to lose 1.5b in 1sec :D
anyways before i started selling my eq i had enough gold to buy sun +9 like i was spamming in globals so loosing weap is not the reason for quiting game in my case

ill never forget words of my guildmates who wanted to buy me new sosun just to keep me active in game
i got farking bored of everything... after i figurate that i didnt had 1 pvp in 1month, 2-3 job wars "maybe" 2-3 "fair" guild wars where ppl from oposite guild bring 10+ buffers from other guild and that's all
everyone dream about max lv, full farm, good eq and weap, sosun weap, sosun equip etc etc etc etc but..
I was sosuner over 1 year so pvp with non socun chars is pointless.. if you attack them in pvp they will call u "sosun noob" or "go fight with sosuners leave me alone" etc.. if theres few sosuners on pvp u already know who will win bcz u already pvped them 1000 times before.
Im playing Cabal online now I've got force blader 140 in only 1 month (max is 170 but after 140 u not need to grind anymore cuz everything is in set and honor after lv 140 when u get last buff -between lv 140-170)and game is actually FREE TO PLAY.. in silk if you have money u have power(gold sellers premium+ item mall suits etc.)no botters, if you talk craps all other ppl need to do is to make ss and post it on forum..and there we go.. 3days of ban :D

silkroad - never again! =D

People still play, oh how the Titans fall ~ oh so mighty. Yet... such... a... pathetic... death. Silkroad will always be a game I can say this about: "SRO, yeah I play(ed) SRO. That game was the shit when I first played, the moment I logged in I almost orgasmed over the surge of colors and sounds and the PvP at jang south Oh-Em-Gi, It was amazing. Learning how to play, meeting great people ~ learning to despise bots after they destroyed my guild. Reading about legendary Legit players and wanting to surpass them, wanting to become the greatest thief the silk road has ever seen. Being awed at the beauty of Euro dual axe skills and blader chains. January 07, yeah Early 80 cap baby. When the war was going strong ~ Oh yeah, the community ~ I used to say it was shit back then, you don't know what you had until its gone bro. No more new players on older servers ~ hell ~ no more new players on most servers and now the company is trying to milk the game dry. Yeah that was the shit, now its a shell of its former self."

I love Silkroad, I love Venus... and well...
To all new players: Never forgo the journey... never.

yeah map in start are small.. but after undead ground u have bigger maps.. from ls, mf, pf... maps are bigger and from there its 20x harder to lvlup solo or u need party which know team play.
u have few awesome dungeons like b2f, FT, VC where u can have 45min-2h of great fun with your friends. also 8 bosses per each channel (24channels) which can drop awesome stuffs, 8 pk channels where
u can pk everyone on your sight without loosing any honor point(lawl =P ) while u going grind, hunting boss etc etc etc.

sry but i cant post any pic of equip cuz i deleted sro 2 months ago with all ss's etc..

Mercury and Hera aren't free servers anymore since joymax isn't taking care of bots

yea the beginning towns are very quiet nowadays...but im sure it's better in the newer servers...i seriously don't know why they decided to make constantinople/jangan bigger than hotan....jangan i can understand because of chin tomb and fw...but why constantinople?? so many useless buildings there...while hotan is just lagtown.

Try cSRO or the like if you want to play without bots. They do have a smaller community of English speakers but I can't really say the in-game community of iSRO is worth bothering for.
