SRF is a separate entity from Joymax.

They(SRF) can choose on their own what portions of the Joymax ToS to punish members for breaking.

By definition, PK2 editing should be considered illegal. Though as you might have noticed, in life things aren't just black and white. There are shades of gray. Lots of shades.

Take for example the whole thing of downloading illegal music. It is true that downloading music IS illegal (in most countries at least) and for so, every person who downloaded 1 song or a million songs should be sued or jailed. Realistically, downloading a small amount of songs and sharing in a non-commercial way falls in a shade of gray while commercially violating copyrights will get you sued/prosecuted.

I think in SRO the scale should be defined by whether or not, the community gets hurt from the action. For obvious reasons, botting, selling gold, buying gold and all other things that people were banned for DID hurt the community (or didn't you notice the 3499 bots per server?). Having your wolf show as a mangyang hardly hurts anyone.
Though I do agree that some PK2 editing hurts people. Like the one that lets you see Rogues and Wizards that was discussed in another topic.

Then again we can just whine and be picky and ask everyone to be banned. And hey, isn't the picture on the header of the forum taken out of SRO? I am sure that's violating some copyright too ...

It's dumb because the people are sort of hippocritical, because they say stuff like "There is no gray area in botting". If that is true, shouldn't there be no "gray area" in obeying JM TOS? You may say no to this, but think about this: You get 7 day ban for nodc client, so why don't you get 7 day ban for pk2 editing?

Cause they can't detect that?

An Edit may be an Edit, but when the Line of Harmful Editing to full blown cheating is crossed it is obvious and deserves a punishment. Cheating is determined as going against the parameters set by the game's creator in order to gain an unwarranted advantage over others.

Disregard Illegal VS Legal and look at Cheating as determined by the Creator and any person VS Playing within the rules of the world (SRO).

Are you prepared for this discussion?

Usually when all of these activities are lumped together it is by a botter or bot-supporter arguing against punishing botters and not an ultra-legit arguing in favor of banning all p2k editors. The dissimilarity between botting, no-dc and p2k should be obvious to anyone who knows what those things are. Likewise, the degrees of punishment assigned to each (and based on the damage done to other, non-cheating players) makes logical sense.

PK2 Editing is allowed so long as the edit does not provide any unfair advantage over another player in terms of gameplay.

pk2 edit is legal if you dont use it to gain unfair advantage over other users, like the stealth/invisible detect mod.

Yes, I pk2 edited my lvl 30 nuke into a lvl 70 nuke so I now I have an unfair advantage over everyone else.... I can see why this is the exact same as using 3rd party no dc. pk2 isn't considered 3rd party cause it isn't a running program while silkroad is running. There wouldn't even be a discussion if ppl didn't use the stealth edit whcih does give an unfair advantage. You just gotta know where to draw the line. pk2 editing has a pretty thick line that's hard to cross unlike botting and no dc.

How about SRF can decide what rules they want to follow from JM or not.

Because its there site sleepy, and how is No-Dc's affecting the game? i don't get it. All im doing is logging in , im not cheating , im not botting, not glitching, its not hurting ANYONE! Just like Pk2 Editing. Why did i get a week ban for absolutly nothing. Oh yea and sorry dude, No-dc isnt a 3rd pty thing. It doesnt run while its running it is the client.

I have Asked that question a thousand times and not one person has given me a straight answer.

well they do. But they make the rules with a pretty thick line that is hard to cross. They have moral points in why pk2 editing is allowed with certain things an other things not. A regular weapon edit can be advantage to the editer because it can boost their exitement in game, but it doesn't disadvatage others. A stealth edit isn't allowed because it advantages another player by disadvantaging another. Those kinds of edit are considered cheating. Anyone reasonable can see that. No Dc is not allowed because it uses 3rd party while sro is running and disadvantages others players that might have been able to log in, had you not been using it. Simple as that. If People have questions on certain edit that should or shouldn't be discussed here, they can ask.

No-Dc is 3rd party software. I know people will say that pk2 editing uses 3rd party, but 3rd party is defined as software that is affecting other software in real-time. And No-DC does just that.

NO DC doesnt use 3rd party while sro is running.
It just uses it to launch sro, then its gone. We never got DCed from sro a year ago, the fix was already there provided by joymax but u know they like to annoy us.

also, you can use the pk2 to make auto selectors to target monsters. And use auto programs to select skills just merely using coordinates on your screen.
Botting without bot programs ftw or ftl? LOL.

You can allow pk2 to change your noob 5d garms to 8d garms, but once you've given people the turorials for it everything bad is possible. You just dont know what people are doing, and prob will never know. Was i stupid enough to admit that i changed the stealth/invis files using the pk2 tutorials provided on these forums' pk2 section? meh, provide the tools and people will do it.

I'm just throwing that out there, feel free to discuss.

No-dc IS runninng while sro is. It's just a hidden process. Even if it wasn't running, it would be considered a hack because it alters default software of sro.

Pk2 editing can be used in that manner I'm sure with using like auto-it or other scripting programs to correspond with the coding like FIRE_GIGONGSUL_B to be used while sniffing packets. But that would be considered a bot program. A little less sufficient prolly.

People just need to be responsible and know where to draw the line. If is Disadvantages other players then it shouldn't be considered doing. I know a lot of ways to do that, but simply choose not to. Mostly for the fact that I don't play anymore lol. But I have made TG bogger to hunt her before, with shouldn't be allowed IMO

you're grouping all pk2s together. There is a point where a pk2er must draw the line between harmless editing and malicious cheating.

Yes I agree. Let the players decide what rules to break, as long as they dont take advantage of the wrong ones and cheat for an advantage in game. If they dont write about their exploits here, then its all good. Message sent by forum: its ok to break some silkroad online tos, as long as you dont cheat or bot.

but, why would you get banned for using loader/nodc?
i don't get how the hell it's cheating..?

How is a pk2 edit different then zoom hack or swear filter?
zoom = for people who would want to look farther away
no dc = people who don't want to waste 2 hours to log in if they don't have premium
swear filter = so you don't get that annoying red message filter bullshit.. when you can just type as.shole or some variation of it.
pk2= looks cool on your screen

I don't get how any of the nodc loader bullshit is "cheating"

In my opinion pk2 is worse than no dc loader, flame me, but read my reasons.

The game is meant to be played where you EARN the equipment etc that you wear and you EARN the kill of a unique, and you aren't supposed to know what tier a person is wearing, etc. There isn't any option to change that kind of stuff, so you are technically messing with stuff that ISNT MEANT to be messed with.

The game originally DID NOT disconnect people when they tried to connect. Joymax did at one time INTEND on no disconnects while logging in. Joymax has NEVER intended on in game pk2 editing.

And don't give me bullshit about using a no dc third party program, I use a fcking premium.
