I dont understand either... Botting doesnt have any benefit at all!!! Maybe, im not sure. Its a very small chance but maybe its because they dont wanna grind and just pvp?!?

kind of sums it all up for a former full legit
What does he get when he hits 40? there is nothing wrong in belng a low level, being hacked is not an excuse to bot. The whole riff raffs does not change when you are higher so basically your friend is bullshitting himself.
Most i know is just because they are lazy and there is simply no "real" punishment if you bot anyway, some people would commit a crime because they know they wont be punished by the law.
First off, not all botters have a life. Many of them sit in front of the computer baby-sitting there bot. But there are a few who actually have things to do and use the bot to keep up with the avg. level of the server. Personally, i see nothing wrong with bots (players), clientless goldbots are a different story. Player bots get to the cap and become active because they have nothing else to do but war / job / pvp / hunt uniques. In my opinion, makes the game more enjoyable for me.. especially on Hera.. Zeeky and Kain know what im talking about.. Its a battle for Fort instead of some one sided bullshit.
Can you see what you just wrote? lol It does big time ... If someone is lazy to level up legitly (and they are addicted to game and want to reach cap) they bot , so while they are at school they level up , while they are sleeping they level up ... Why do they want to level up? 1. You cant do jobbing at low level (not these days) 2. You suck at Cape Fights 3. You suck at Guild Wars 4. You are of no use to anyone 5. You gain respect 6. You have the power
So without high level (64++) they cant even feel the game ... its all grinding , grinding , grinding ... and grinding is boring (if you grind too much) So botting does help alot ...
EDIT: My Guildies started to bot ... they are so happy now ... They told me they have nothing with being 2 years of legit ... only problems in life ... and that wish they started earlier.

2 years of 9 lvl gap grinding result: 3 lvl 80 chars 1 lvl 40 char 1 lvl 5 guild + union
he was bored to death trying to grind the whole 9 lvl gap again and he finally got his job as a lab worker. So instead of wasting the time with SRO, he reduced his gringing hours to 1-5 hours a week and used the bot while he was of blowing things up.
The riff raff doesn't change but he will avoid the ks'ers for the time till he is lvl with me and the other friends.
You are right, he could've gotten a pwr lvl or asked me to grind, but: why entrust you project to some1 else?
He knows it is illegal, but his personality of being solitary and very focused on his goal can be seen as the excuse for botting. He uses the bot, merely as an accelerator for himself to catch u and enjoy jobbing his old status.
oh and btw: he says you can stop being so conservative about bots and cut out the talk of bullshitting himself.

@Pan Raider: being hacked doesn't justify botting. If he bots to avoid "wasting the time with SRO" then ask him the question why play at all. Please stop defending your friend.

lol idk........ my parents only let me play on the comp 1 hour a day... so i only get 1 hour of grinding in.... xD but i wanna be legit for life... (it explains why i take so long to lvl....) (lvl 53 at 20% atm)
I hate botting and all, but whats not to understand? It's pretty much the same reason anyone plays a game, to win/be the best, botters are just greedy and want the reward with no effort.
the whole point of the game is to be legit and that way you will feel way better when u reached ur goal. you can say i became strong by myself. its like saying you became rich cause of ur parents money. u did nothing urself. i would advise the botters to stop because who knows you might just gat banned one day. imagine u have a fully farmed char and then lose it cuz u botted. its not worth it.

why waste your time lvling when u can have something do it for you tho?

1]You can job fine at low levels it just takes timing. 2]There is a reason there are other people your level in cape fights, the only reason you would suck would because there are botters who botted to level 80 so essentially you're saying bot because everyone else does. 3]Guild wars would be fine if there were no botters in existence 4]You are of use to every one of the same level, you are of use to your party, guild, and union at all levels. There is a use for everyone but this use will never be seen in an environment where cheaters dominate 5]You lose respect, because if you need to cheat just to gain respect then you're pathetic. 6]What power? You're one cheater in a sea of thousands, you have no more power than jimbo the botter. Any guild of Europeans near your level will rock your world, you have no chance. If botters want respect they should earn it and afaik a cheater hasn't earned jackshit.
64+? How about at 60 cap? there was no 64 plus, how about before botting? Just breaking down your arguments shows the state of the game, without botters you wouldn't need to be a high level to compete because people would averagly settle around 60 and every now and then you would have that person that takes it a step further and aims for 80. Remove the cheaters and there would be no problems for lower levels. You say botters are not a problem but you're all wrong. Cheating is a problem.
Your guildies have given into the game. They no longer have control, the game is in control. They are not.
@4realz, why even download the game if you don't plan on actually playing it? Be for real, cheating is unacceptable stop trying to justify it.
Hey bot supporters, right from the fingers of your fellow botter.

I'm not proud of botting, it is in fact some sign of weakness, however it was the only reason besides the fact that I like modding SRO to see what effect it has, to still play SRO, I was even legit on my first char up to lv 60 even when I had access to the softmod simply because I enjoyed playing the game, but when others start doing things to gain an unfair advantage and you have the means to catch up it seems only reasonable that you do.
You can generalize us all you want and I'm sure you're right about some part of the 0x33 community but the hard core of 0x33 did it for the experience and knowledge we got out of it.
I'm pretty sure that if the GMs would've been active and botters were banned on daily basis 0x33 would still be as active as it is now as most active members are just trying to make SRO a more enjoyable game, providing tools and tutorials to help others out.
And before you and you're hypocritical legit friends start calling us the elitist I suggest you reflect on your own behavior before generalizing and making assumptions without being an insider and actually know whats going on.
And to all of you whining and bitching about the fact some are planning to move on to Aion, whoever said we planned on botting there, maybe it actually is a good game to play and we'll enjoy it the "legit way" anyhow.
He doesn't rationalize his actions. He acknowledges what he has done is a sign of weakness. He doesn't even have pride in cheating like some others do.

So because of his love of the game and because he did not want to be left behind (level wise) he made a short sighted decision that had unexpected side-effects. The blame is partly on the side of Joymax.

so what if he got hacked?being a low lvl aint bad as it seems my old chars didnt reach more then 20 cause off goodies hackers so i stared a new char and found a party. and one thing i dont see why install a game pay money for it and never play? what good will come out off that?
My opinion is that they bot because they can. If you can get away with something thats illegal why not do it? Take for example downloading music off lime wire or something, Downloading music is illegal, but do you know anyone who's got booked for it? its a human flaw, if we can do something that makes life easier with little to no risk why not. If JoyMax really banned bots, than i think a lot of the people would stop.
Thats just my 2 cents take it how u want it

That's a rationalization, brother: "Everyone else is doing it, why can't I?"
Right up there with: "I have a life".
And: "Grinding is boring, I just want to PvP".
I agree with Dope. A cheater will contrive the most ridiculous explanation to justify his actions. Doesn't mean it's true. Best explanation I've found is: "I'm lazy and selfish." Haven't found much to contradict that, tbh.

Hmm, he tries to justify his actions with the actions of others! I didn't take it seriously because it makes him seem weak.
"I'm Lazy and Selfish" is the only excuse that I will except in an argument.
All of the responses Ive read so far are completely moronic and selfish.
I have things to do, so I bot I got hacked, so I bot Im lazy, so I bot I have a job, so I bot I want to go to the mall, so I bot I want to discover females, so I bot
Great. What about your friends and community you play in? Think its fair to them? Not to mention that you have no Idea how to play your characters, cooperate in a war or pvp, and (at least on Venus) cant even come close to winning a fortress. Congrats, youre lvl 80 fully farmed with +5-7 gear and you still blow.
1. i dont have time to play sro with work, school ect.(BS)
Hah, BS indeed.
I work full time, weekdays, freelance on weekends, have many friends plus a girlfriend to manage, and work on my own personal art in my spare time... and I STILL grind my damn ticket. So fack botters mathers.

No real life respect, so they seek it in mmo's.
And when they cannot achieve it with their own hands they cheat.

The bot has created a whole group of ppl that cannot play. lol Lots of them have botted for so long, they havent hand played in a year now. That is good for us on Venus. This last FW, they had the fortress maxed out population wise. With about three full Euro parties, we kept the fortress, the gates didnt get below 50%.... Their healers dont really know how and when to heal, their tanks dont really know how and when to tank, their dmg dealers dont know how and when to deal dmg. Watching them fight is like taking 300 wind up toys, winding them all up and letting them go on the kitchen floor together.
The ability to play a Euro can only be learned by playing, so let them bot because it is a poor tactical decision. Three legit unions can own a whole server of botters with ease thanks to them not knowing a damn thing about their builds.

My theory on the reason why people want to bot comes down to one basic thought, winning. This varies from person to person as one botter's definition of winning could simply consist of having a high level character while the more extreme case of a botter's definition of winning could consist of having the "best" character on the server. I find this true because although there will be a few non botting players that do these things most of the cases it will be a botter that does the following: -Scams friends/guildmates or anyone they can -Buys gold -Run multiple bots for the sake of gaining gold, sosuns, or other chars -Use illegal 3rd party programs like zoom hack or will altar the client to show invisible/stealthed chars -Will CCF
Just note I'm not saying that all botters will do those things (and there's probably more I could list) but those actions will most often be associated with boters than non botters because of some botters having a strong urge to win.
