Can GDFs or santa sets drop when you die?

As title says, can Gold Dragon flag or santa sets drop when you die? Sorry if this topic is in the wrong place. Thanks in advance.

if they're in your inventory then yes but if they are equipeted then no

But let's say a mob kills you and you have it equipped, is there a possibility that it will drop?
