I'm sure this has been posted many many many times but I'm new around here and also a fresh opinion on an old subject can be good. We all know they exist, most of them are the strongest on the server, and also the biggest shit talkers. Why do people feel the need to spend thousands of dollars to be l337 on a game? Maybe because they have it to burn, who knows. The point is it spoils the game completely. Silkroad is mainly a game based on leveling, but also a major part of the game is based on selling drops or buying and selling to be able to have the gold to afford good equipment. Goldbuyers totally bypass this part of the game as they probably do by botting to 90, so inturn are they ever really playing the game? I'd say not really. They just buy there l337 gear then challenge people in DW South all day or through globals. In my opinion they also ruin the game for others who could of ended up with those Sun parts that goldbuyers possess, because let's face it without there goldbuying they wouldn't of had that Sun part, someone else would have it. Anyway, rant over. It will probably always be a sad fact in SRO that spending real money on this game gives you a great advantage, but you're not playing the game how It's meant to be played. Here is two great examples from my server of those and I know they're goldbuyers for a fact they've admitted it in globals. Hell, even one of them was recently banned for CCF but has now had it lifted which is a damn shame. http://www.rev6.com/player.asp?id=135031http://www.rev6.com/player.asp?id=15314Who spoils your server and buys all the sun with real money?

Well, apparently star's banned, so ...
There's always going to be gold buyers, no matter what game! Not much you can do about that tbh, and considering that starts the whole goldbot thing, yeah, it sucks.

Many games have this problem, but the difference is that Joymax doesn't give a shit about it. It sucks imo!
And i wonder how they can afford it too... since after seeing (being spammed down by) goldsellers in all cities, i've learnt that they chagerge something like $30+ for 100 mil. A 9D SoSun costs at least 1 bil... and for goldbuyers taht is $300! Its just ridiculous to see to what lenghts some people go to be "better" than others.

Spending thousands of dollars on a video game is just plain retarded and pathetic. Thats just my 2 cents on this.

in my oppinon gold buyers suck even more than bots. they can just buy plvl and lvl faster than a bot, they inflate the sro economy, and are the reason that all the spammers, and goldbots exist. plus like everone said they can easily buy the best gear.

It's just like paying more to have a better car than others. So you ruin the road :p
Get used to it, it's human nature to try and be better than others be it spending more time or money, well at least Joymax is doing weekly goldbot bans!

There are legit ways of making gold. Quote: Conclusion Always remember to start with baby steps when venturing into any aspect of this game. People forget very easily that what makes this game fun is the journey, whether it is leveling, or becoming rich. You need patience for success. If you are just starting out I suggest the element market, because of very consistent prices, and the largest customer base. You must always be ready to adapt to the changing economy. Prices change daily as well as demand for different items. There are artificial market inflater's like Christmas and Thanksgiving event, as well as an increasing number of gold buyers flooding the market.
The dream came true I am happy to say that I know a person who has a 64 sun+7 sword that he got 100% legit. With a few trusting friends they were able to pull together 1 billion in gold for the purchase. What’s even more amazing is that they are all relatively low level, around and below level 64. There power stems from the trust they have in each other. When a good deal arises they pool their money to make the big purchases and split the profit once re-sold.
The Rich Botter Myth. A little pet peeve of mine that I want to touch on quickly. Botters that are still leveling cannot be rich for a very simple reason. The price of gear increases exponentially with level. If you are leveling at extreme speeds you do not have the time to make money, especially if you are botting 24/7 and never open a stall.
Gold Buyers As I get higher in level I meet more players who buy gold. I am happy to say that I can compete with 9 out of 10 of them. If you don’t work for your gold it looses value and gets squandered. I know someone who has spent about $1,000 US dollars on gold and I will have better gear than him once I am his level.
Words of truth taken from Glavie's Gold guide found here: http://www.silkroadforums.com/viewtopic.php?t=43610

There's nothing better than killing goldbuyers who spend hundred of dollars monthly for gold.

I guess I can answer that question.
If somebody is a millionair or a billionair making my way to SRO, then they may feel nothing towards spending few thousand into this l337 game (which is just a game).
