i was very suprised as was many people on my server, we had near on 2000 banned yet it was full within the hour, we can only think that many people are taking advantage of the bot banning and opening up multi clients, with so many hitting 90 now alot are focusing on there Accademy for the buffs and also 9d SoH when it is released.

Maybe the gold companies have realized that joymax bans every week so

so lets say they have 150 goldbots and most likely a large number of them will get ban so they probably make another 100+ within that week and have them as backup so right after the bot ban they add the same # of there bots that were ban back to the server to the point where banning goldbots will be even more pointless and all servers will remain the same.

why are the servers still filled?
1 gold bots not banned can get in
2 multi client stallers
3 and the main explanation they are banning chars that have not logged in in a wile(that have no silk on them. there are lots of people who try the game don't like it and move on. so they may have banned them but they never logged in anyway.

there maybe more but i think the 3 i listed are the biggest ones.

Sarcasm aside, there are always more explanations. It's like the kids that get angry when the servers are crowded on a weekend and attribute it to Gold Bots. I'm just saying, there are multiple causes; you can't put the bulk of the blame on two entities.

FYI gold companies don't run the bots. Quite frankly if you do some quick math in your head using conservative numbers you will find it unlikely that some gold selling company could afford to run the large fleets they would have to in order to maintain the economy in such a messed up state as it is and resell the gold at such a low margin. I doubt many fortune 500 companies could either. The gold selling companies while wrong are bearing the brunt of a larger stigma from activities perpetrated by player bots.

There are 30 servers some have more or less but lets say each server can hold 3000 logins active. Now lets say conservatively that player bots and actual players make up 1/4 of the server population. That leaves about 2500 accounts per server that are gold bots. Which is not that hard to believe. 2500*30=75000 gold bots across all servers. As far as actual gold selling companies there are not that many out there lets say 4-5. Eh 5 for simplicitys sake. That would mean that to cover all the servers each company would have to run about 15000 bots each. Lets pretend that each computer they have can run up to 100 bots yeah they would have to have uber PC but lets run with it. Each company would have to run 150 PCs under a full load nearly 24/7/365. Let us pretend that the hardware to run this they got for a steal at 300 dollars a pop. That is 45,000 minimum total investment in the hardware alone. And that many bots generate a lot of network traffic. Regular DSL or cable would not cut it. They would need dedicated lines and decent ones at that. Further they would need a server room with massive cooling capacity etc. We are talking a primo datacenter as well. If they sold the gold at 100mill per 10 dollars then they would have to move 450,000,000,000 gold just to cover the investment in hardware and not even begin to cover utilities. 450 billion. Data line and utility costs would be horrendous as well. And they are recurring. Should we bring up the issue of equipment failure and staffing? Whoooooo boy. Yeah gold companies are wrong but they are not the ones ruining SRO. ^_^

Actually, after 80 cap clientless didn't work for one day or so, each server had max 1k-1,5k players _PLAYING_, so yeah theres atleast 1,5k-2k goldbots on each server.

@ping_lo

They're using clientless, which means max 10mb ram per client, so they don't need any decent hardware, sro doesn't require a good connection neither. Since stuff in china is really, really cheap they don't need to invest much money to start such a business.

Very true. If anybody was around back in 2005, you should've tried to login during the X-mas event we had. It was hell during the week alone, but on the weekends... Good god. The traffic isn't just attributed to Gold bots.

Couple of other factors to take into consideration:
-It's summer.
-Gold bot bans have been intriguing players to come back.
-It's the 90 cap, a lot of players came back. The market is also alive again. People are now stalling again all day as well.
-We haven't gotten a new server for awhile.

Multiclient takes server traffic => JM spend more money on host, servers , and maintenance.

So if there is no gold bots and multiclient user, JM could give us a better game.

This also inclucde ppl who use 2-3 pc in pretext to stall, legal or not.

Well I don't bot and I never said the math was exact. ;) But at any rate the 100 bots per pc estimate I gave is in the relatively realistic range that would be near 1Gb above ram for OS etc. But ram is not the only limiting factor. You could have 40Gb of ram but then you would have CPU or bus limitations etc. So 100 acct per PC is likely still a bit on the high end. Add to that I just checked and all servers are now at 3500 slots each. When I quit there were a few at 2500 or 3000 and a few at 3500. All told though that is 30000 more accounts than the conservative numbers I used. And while yes an individual SRO client is not that demanding on your connection just as a network ping is not. Network pings etc have still been used in the past to flood connections and DOS commercial servers etc. Volume is a factor. Sure 1 SRO clients traffic is not that much but how about 10000+ times the traffic? Even if it is manned by underpaid chinese workers which they are not there is still little to no profit margin there.

However if several player bots ran several gold bots each to cover cost of their suns etc and then sold the excess to the gold companies to turn around and resell for more. That would have a much higher profit margin as the botters are eating the cost of hardware, connection, power, cooling, servicing. Further most player bots etc are immature adults or more likely immature kids who are incapable of setting up the payment structure and business side the gold companies handle. The gold companies are simply middle men who get the gold from the players that ruin the game to the players that make it attractive to ruin the game.
