Has anyone else gotten an e-mail like this? Normally I wouldn't believe such an e-mail but it's from support@joymax.com (That's one of their real e-mails right?). Quote: Greetings, An investigation of your Silkroad Online account has found strong evidence that the account in question is being sold or traded. As you may not be aware of, this conflicts with Joymax's EULA under section 4 Paragraph B and Section 8 of the Operations Policy, both of which can be found at http://www.joymax.comThe investigation will be continued by Joymax administration to determine the action to be taken against your account. If your account is found violating the EULA and Terms of Use, your account can, and will be suspended/closed/or terminated. In order to keep this from occurring, you should immediately verify that you are the original owner of the account. To verify your identity please download and install our Account Verification Tool, available here: *Removed Link*. After installation, you will be required to submit your account name only. It is recommended that you then change your password, for your own security. Remember, a Joymax employee will never ask for your password! Only Account Administration will be able to assist with account retrieval issues. Thank you for your time and attention to this matter, and your continued interest in Silkroad Online. Sincerely, Account Administration Joymax Entertainment. Joymax Co., Ltd, Korea. I downloaded said Tool and Avira popped up saying it had 2 trojans in it (could be false as I've had false positives before). Weird thing is the account I have hooked up to this e-mail is relatively new and only been used by myself. I checked some other e-mails hooked up to other accounts and no such e-mail on them. I think it's really them, but figured I'd see what some others thought before doing it.

Obviously a keylogger, thats why they "recommend" you to change pw, so they can see the new pw asap.

It's a pretty big skem.
To check, go to the main website, if there is nothing about it then 100% sure it's a skem.

To get your secret answer* Dude.. really bad move on your part to even download that. Obviously a fishy email, they can't "verify" your account through some tool you need to download. I hope you got rid of all of it, otherwise we at SRF may be seeing a new thread by you, with title "I got hacked ". I must say though .. looks like they've put a lot more effort into scamming someone out of an account, probably not the usual turk / egy. I've actually seen a silkroad freewebs scamming site by an egy guy, it was utterly pathetic.

What I wanna know is how they got my e-mail. I've never posted on any sro related forums etc on accounts with that e-mail.. Seams strange but oh well. But correct me if I'm wrong, isn't their e-mail support@joymax.com?

But correct me if I'm wrong, isn't their e-mail support@joymax.com? It's not hard to spoof an email address. As a general rule, when I receive emails like this, I'll go out to the company's website myself to see if there is an announcement or anything about it, or pick up the phone and call them, before acting on it. Legitimate companies won't ask for your login details, or have you download a program to verify your account. They could verify your account without involving you at all.

Forget the fact this screams "SCAM" all over the place. It was written by someone who actually knows English pretty well. That should already tell you it was not written by anyone related to the real JoyMax company. Quote: well, the odd thing here is the email, how can anyone else that is not an administrator in Joymax create and email with "@Joymax"...smth smells fishy. If you learn a little about the internet and email protocols, you'll see that "a sender's address" is just a typed header. Meaning, anyone can type and email they want. If you download PHP and set your mail server correctly, you can use the mail() function to send mails like: mail("innocent@user.com", "innocent subject", "innocent text", "FROM: support@microsoft.com"); Any email you put under 'FROM:' would show up as the incoming address. Of course it takes more than that to fake a real-looking mail and many mail clients (Gmail/Yahoo/MSN Live) verify certain addresses.
