I used to be able to run silkroad just fine on this computer until I got a new monitor. Since then, every time I try to run silkroad, this D3D9 application message comes up. I have downloaded the latest version of DirectX, but I still don't understand why it doesn't work. I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling but still the same error message occurs.

First pop-up:
Generic application error. Enable debug output for detailed information. Switching to the reference rasterizer, a software device that implements the entire Direct3D feature set, but runs very slowly.

Second:
Generic application error. Enable debug output for detailed information. This program will now exit.

Then I get the silkroad [Send error] pop-up that says "Error found while running Silkroad. If you click [Report error], it will be helpful to the development of" and it stops mid sentence and there is no report error button. The pop-up also gives information about my computer. I can post that information if needed.

I see that here a person also had the same problem but no real solutions were proposed. If you were able to play silkroad again, please tell me how you did it!

Thanks

Post your specs.. including that monitor.

Erm, go to start -> run -> type dxdiag.

Go to the display tab, Under directX features make sure all three are Enabled. Run tests for Directdraw and direct3d.
Also try a lower desktop resolution, and change the silkroad resolution to a lower one if you can. (Option is in the silkroad launcher)

Mousetrap,

Here are my computer specs:
Quote:
OS : Windows XP Home Edition Service Pack 3 (build 2600)
CPU : Intel(R) Pentium(R) 4 CPU 1.80GHz
Memory : Physical(510.8MB), Page(1243.9MB), Virtual(2047.9MB)
Graphic Card :
Graphic Card Version : 6.14.0010.9371
Graphic Driver Date : 2006-10-22 12:22
Build(exe) : [2009-01-16] [10:56:51]

Here is the DirectX Diagnotic info:

Quote:
DirectDraw Acceleration: Enabled
Direct3D Acceleration: Enabled
AGP Texture Acceleration: Not Available

My monitor is a Westinghouse model LCM-22w2.

I have tried turning the resolution of both silkroad and my monitor down to the minimum, but yet both do not work. Could it possibly be that AGP Texture Acceleration?

I hope this helps and thank you very much.

Here's what I found regarding AGP texture acceleration;

Quote:
Generally, when AGP texture acceleration is unavailable it will be either because the motherboard chipset drivers haven’t been loaded or because drivers were loaded in wrong order. I’d suggest you try the following:

• Uninstall the display card from Device manager. Uninstall any related driver entry you might see in Add/Remove programs. Reboot and cancel out of the hardware detection dialogue.
• Install the most recent motherboard chipset drivers available for your motherboard. Reboot.
• Install the most recent driver available for your graphics card from the 3DLabs website.
• Update DirectX to the latest version. (Or reinstall DirectX)

That should hopefully do the trick. AGP texture acceleration unavailability usually results because the AGP miniport driver (part of the chipset driver set) hasn’t been installed correctly.

Also it looks like you either have integrated onboard graphics or a graphics card with outdated drivers.. 2006 ;\, go update those. (will be done if you choose to do what's said in the quote)

Hope it helps ya.. I had the same error on my mothers pc when trying to run silkroad but never bothered to try to fix it, maybe when my new case comes this week and I give her mine I'll be motivated to look into it more, remember to post back if you fix it!

on a side note.. I'd really recommend upgrading your pc.. I wouldn't be able to stand it, at least stick in another 512mb of ram, it's dirt cheap these days.
