I just downloaded this right off filefront, installed it, never had any problems before (havent played in months)

Decided I'll try the game out again on my new comp, and when it first runs you see the launcher - then it crashes. No error report, no remaining processes, nothing... No unusual processes in the background, checked all startup items, did a virus scan...

Nothing...

No idea why, and you cant post on their forums because you have to MAKE IT FAR ENOUGH TO CREATE A CHARACTER to even post in the tech support forum (how stupid is that?)

Any ideas? I know this isnt much information at all... But what else is there? Yes my drivers etc are all up to date I can play battlefield 2, RYL, WoW, Wc3 ... etc... perfectly fine

Never had anything do this on this computer before

Both of my computers do this, and it was working on the other fine before, didnt even have to install it it was still there...

But they both crash usually once the launcher appears

I cant be the only person with it just crashing can i? Come on... How lame is that :banghead:

Apparently you are the only one. Download from the official site and reinstall?

Exactly the same problem, SilkRoad crashes right after I click the "Play" button on the Launcher, the GameGuard process seem to run normally, but as soon as the actual game is launched, the computer crashes and windows auto restarts.

After multiple restarts, I turned off the windows auto-restart feature, now whenever I click "Play", a BSOD comes up as expected, the error is pretty short, "Exceptional error on: 0x0000008E" or something along those lines, no idea what it stands for.

Updated all drivers, can play all other games fine, on high settings even.
Thought it was overheating, pointed a fan at the inside of the computer, no use. I also don't have any virus, spyware etc.

One thing I can identify in common with OP though is I also downloaded the client off filefront yesterday, maybe that client is corrupt in someway?

i just downloaded off their mirror, the silkroadonline.net one, and it still crashes. Version 1.02

:banghead:

Theres no reason for it to be crashing

Silkroad has the worst tech support out their - worse than EA - and thats BAD

~~mine crashes right when it should load the MotD and show the play button, you barely see anything and its already gone

when it shuts down 'drwatson.exe' something another flashes up there with it... i remember this being the program that sends the data after something crashes so i doubt this causes it. but just something i should mention

Found something on Wikipedia:

Quote:
Random crashes can occur, even as soon as the game has loaded. When the game crashes while a character is in combat, the character usually dies. The engine may also crash when buying or selling items from a stall. If the computer has ethernet problems, the game may cause it to shut down or reboot.

Are you using a router/LAN to access the Internet, that might be the problem, seems like the same problem on my end since I'm using a router.

Yeah, I have a router and im on cable (Comcast) which is lan/ethernet

But it worked before when we had the same router...

Unless its caused by our new cable modem which doubles over as an ethernet phone line (comcast does phone service here now), which we didnt have...
