I have 512 megs of ram on two different systems on my home network and both computers lag and crash often enough to annoy me. Someone mentioned in another thread to turn off shadows in the SRO video options tab... at least to help with lag.

Before everybody runs out and buys new RAM: just download a good memory checker; most Linux distributions come with a good one; you only need the first install disk for it; and let it run on your RAM for a day or so. If it doesn't report any errors, don't bother with buying a new RAM. If it does: get one ASAP, get rid of the old one, and test the new one while it's still under warrantee.

The solution to your lag problems has nothing to do with ram.

If the Original Poster's prob was solved it was because his ram was faulty.

I run a very high-end system with 2Gb ram overclocked to 1000MHz and the lag happens from time to time. It is a Joymax problem not a user caused problem.

As far as testing your ram (memory) goes, use memtest86 for Windows-based systems.
