well people who know anything about vista know that it uses direct3d to render the desktop and windows. In normal full-screen games, it stops using direct3d to render the desktop while the game is running in order to not cause a performance hit on the game. you can see this if you alt-tab in a game, and it will show the old windows xp style alt tab window until the os comes back into focus, then switch back to the new one.

it doesnt do this in silkroad, however. I dont know why, i dont dev the game, but in silkroad the rendering of the desktop continues in the background while the game is running, causing massive framerate drops.

Is there anyway to force silkroad to run in a true fullscreen mode?

I have tried setting disable desktop composition in compatibility options, which will disable the aero transparency on the desktop, but that doesnt help the framerate any. I know that my computer does just fine in games with vista, cause i can play halo with just as good or better framerates than i get in xp.

i can tolerate the lower framerate in vista, as its a change from around 70 to around 30-40 fps, but its obvious and rather annoying.
