probably should be in off topic section but since General chat lately is everything for some reason i think you should get alienware I've heard great things about it.

Alienware computers are natorious for hard-drive failure, overheating, and graphics card failure. Go with a water cooled XPS FTW!

umm i would say build your self, but some dont want to do that much work, so i would get XPS because they still offer xp ( vista is gay). or a neat little shuttle box. you can pack in more power than most towers. check it out http://us.shuttle.com

Or maybe a Voodoo, or a ibuypower. Both quality, and building a labtop is not cost effective like a desktop is

Yea, especially alienware laptops, they suck. Just go with the XPS because it should be more than enough for silkroad, you won't experience lag

and SRO's performance doesnt really depend on what computer you have

its more on your RAM and graphic card

just build one yourself, it's silkroad, a decent graphic card can run it maxed (X1600 is good enough), and 2 gig of ram.

I chose gateway b/c it doesn't take much to run SRO. My friend's laptop has an intel integrated graphics card and it runs fine.

I did the exact thing your doing a while ago - looking for a new computer. I was also thinking of some of the same ideas you where about which computer to get. Then i found this website... http://www.buydirectpc.com its a great website...I bought a great computer from there...
Specs:
AMD Athlon X2 5000
1 Gb of Ram
nVidia 7600 x2 in SLI
200 Gb Hard Drive
Artic Cooling Fan

This is more than enough to run silkroad along with many other programs at the same time. And i bought this computer for under 2000$. I would recommend them because they also have great service.

Alienware: I don't know, but i'm sure they're good with their high prices.
XPS: They're good.
Gateway: Make sure you get one build for gaming, they are really good. You can have SRO, internet explorer, and AIM up all at the same time, but i bet you can do that with any other good computer too. :D
