So check this out,
today i had to reinstall windows on my computer again.
I have to do that every 30 days cause the version is expired :S
But anyway, Ive reinstalled SRO to offcourse...
But there was something different when I was done installing SRO, it asked me to install DirectX 9.0b , ive reinstalled SRO countless times but it never asked me that question...
So i went to the SRO site to get the download of DirectX 9.0b...
Everything checked out, so ive started playing...
But now the games runs like hell...it looks a little bit like I play it on a 10 year old pc with windows 98 on it :S
IT LAGS, no, IT LAGS BAD.
It never lagged this much, it didnt lagged yesterday...or the day before yesterday...it started lagging ever since SRO asked me to install DirectX9.0b .... ever since i had to reinstall all the crap on this damn computer again.
What is this crap, I cant play normal like this, every time I want to attack something it turns out to be already dead... I just didnt see it yet because of lag :S
The servers are POPULATED at this time not even crowded, so thats not the problem...
Oh and dont give me replys about updating my videocard... my videocard wasnt updated yesterday before windows reinstall and SRO worked FINE, so updating the video card is not the problem...
I also have the same graphical options as yesterday... 1024x860 with game quality set 'normal', worked fine in the past (ive tried to set quality to 'low' already, gave me no change in lag.

This really makes me mad...I have a Premium ticket and I want to use it to the max...but if 1 kill takes me 10 times as long as normal, its a waste of money...

Anyone know a solution for this ?? I really hope it has something to do with DirectX 9.0b or something.

Instead of being an idiot and re-installing, I have two alternatives for you.

1) Download Linux Ubuntu 7.04 from http://www.ubuntu.com and install it. Then run SRO through WINE, now you won't have to keep reformatting because Linux is free forever.

2) Download BitLord from http://www.bitlord.com and then go to http://www.isohunt.com and search for "Microsoft Window XP Pro Corporate Edition", then download torrent using BitLord. This will allow you to use Windows XP without requiring activation.

The first one is legit, and the second one isn't, but it is up to you which one you do.

I only want the game to run like it did before.

It uses about 99 CPU and my cooler runs like crazy, is this normal btw ?

Processor : 2.00 GHz
Video: GeForce 6600 GO
RAM: 1024 MB

It should run nice and smoothy.

But I think im gonna destroy this laptop with an axe pretty soon, keeps throwing shit at me, always problems, never there is anything which just goes right.
I HATE THIS!!!

I was only trying to suggest an easier way of running your computer so you don't have to format every 30 days. But if you are happy with doing that, then be my guest.

@SolidusRegime: your intentions are good, but referring to torrents is against the forum rules. plz edit your post and use the pm button next time ;)

as for the topicstarter..

i see that you have a laptop similar to my old one. sro worked fine for me
too on that one.

idk but you could try the following things..

if you are on wireless, reboot your router and check cables
if its directx, try downloading the newest one from the site

good luck.. its weird errors you got there.

I apologise, but I don't feel I should edit my post. A mod can do that for me. :)
