For some reason Everytime I log in I get a stupid program is not responding error. Wait for program to respond or close program options. And i waited like 20 min to respond. Anyone know how to fix this? Or getting the same problem. I already reinstalled the game like a dum ass. So that's not it.

Edit:oops should be in Technical lol

Try this:
viewtopic.php?t=4541
I posted it to other topic, if anyone looked. That helped me, no freezes or crashes anymore.

*Puts hand up*

Yep me too, I'm getting the freezing, the ?????? and runtime and the not responding error. Someone posted earlier about the memory leaks. I heard that too. I find at the moment mind you, that I get it when I'm idle, or stalling. I can't keep a stall up long enough to sell anything :(. :banghead:

I use Vista and I'm told it's effecting vista users mostly. I've updated my drivers and the latest direct X and I know it's not my machine. My pc runs beautifully, vista works beautifully and I only get this trouble with SRO lol. I think theres something in that for all of us. I've only had this trouble since the last inspection and bot ban.

I guess the powers that be have to sort it out now, although I must say it is doing my head in

I hope for all of us having this prob that it's sorted relatively quickly *sarcastic tones*.

Although this sounds silly I always feel better when I know I"m not the only one having the problem.

Good luck for all of us

Cheers

Zia

There seems to be a solution to preventing the Visual C++ runtime error for Vista users, and that is to download the DirectX SDK March 2008 version, which can be found by clicking: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/deta ... layLang=en

It's 442MB unfortunately, but for me it stopped the C++ Runtime errors. However I'm still having frequent crashes in town. Sadly the SDK file won't fix that. Worst thing is, with the frequent crashes, it doesn't log your character out immediately, so you gotta wait a couple of minutes before you can relog-.-

Ironic how AFTER a bot ban, the servers are in worse shape than before. I never had this problem until the last bot ban ><

I stated in my first post that it didn't help me. It might some others though.

I only crash because of C++ a fraction of the time.

So far I've crashed because of C++Error,??????????Error, Game just closes like exiting a window and show desktop but still running in processes, screen turns white and says Close program or Wait for program to respond.

Do you all have dual core or quad core?
If you do, then try to run the game in 1 core.
If i set the compatibility mode to windows 98/ME, then your game runs on 1 Core...And then I don't crash or freeze

To ones who dont know how to do this(sorry my windows is in Estonian)

On task manager(Alt+Ctrl+Del), right click on the Sro_Client and select last option
Image
Then: Only select CPU 0 and select OK
Image
Maybe this works, maybe not, but you can try and tell me if that worked

Nice! Fingers crossed not had a crash since I changed the client to run on a single core. Only problem with this is you have to do it every time you start the game.

For Vista users

CTRL+ALT+DEL
Click Start Task Manager
Select Processes Tab
Right click sro_client.exe*32
Select Set Affinity
Just leave CPU 0 checked and uncheck any others.

*edit* just scrolled back to hotan repotted no crashes :D

Hope I havent jinxed myself.

Coincidental because of the timing of the last SRO update and the new release of SP1.

I've had lots of crashes on 3 different computers with 3 completely different hardware configs. All are XP SP2 and all worked fine before the last SRO update.

I'm no vista expert, but it may be that you need to be running as administrator or running taskmanager as administrator.

Also... I've tried this solution and it does seem to help most of the time. Not always, but it's way better than nothing.

Vista Users can also do Ctrl + Shift + Esc for the Task manager

CTRL + ALT + DEL is the long way around but both still gets u there.

Amazing. I run on quad core, turned off CPU 1,2 and 3, and now I have no crashes (nor have I been in Hotan yet =D). You're a genius, thanks so much.
