Hi all,

As title says, I'm thinking about switching to s/s build. My current build is 80:80 bower, but it disappointed me a bit in pvp, I guess this build isn't as good as it used to be. I was expecting more difference in damage compared to a pure STR bower.

I would like to know if there are people around here that are familiar with an 80:80 sword/shield character, there's lack of information about this build. (it's because it isn't a good build?)

Or an 80:80 spear would be a better option?

Regards

First of all, it's 70:70. Second 70:70 bower does not suck, you probably just can't play one.

Anyway, to answer your question I'm quite familiar with a 70:70 s/s, I was only lvl 6x and I was sword/spear dual. Nonetheless 70:70 s/s is great, great survivability, great damage bla bla bla. IMO 70:70 bower is still better.

I guess i'm not the most experienced 80:80 bower, but due to some reasons it's just hard to kill an opponenent, no matter what build they are. The damage of an 80:80 bower on Str chars isn't that much of a difference compared to Str bower's damage. Imo, the small difference in damage can't compensate with the much bigger difference in critical damage. Str chars also do more damage on int chars, while 80:80 bower's HP makes it hard to tank a nuker.

Your 80:80 s/s was lvl6x, i wonder how that build is on current cap.

What difference does that make, I only took 3 masteries anyway. However in my experience there is a great damage difference. Sacrificing that HP really makes it worth it.

Well whatever we all have our opinions. If you're 100FF I probably wouldn't change, unless you have enough skill edits to do so.

I don't know exact numbers anymore, but i can remember i was a bit disappointed when i compared my damage with a pure Str bower, we both took the same weapon, both had same amount of blues on the gear (could maybe differ a few points max), both of us had premium at that moment.

I have enough SP to switch to another build, just want to know a bit more about the other 80:80 builds, i didn't manage to find somebody at my server yet.

70:70 spear does well also

but s/s works too... you can pick any of the weapons, it'll be the same, they have different play styles so one isnt better than the other. you'll die regardless of build because pvp is luck based also, but you'll win too if you plan things out as well

70:70 chars are different than pures (well hybrids in general are different)
you lack hp of pure str, and lack damage of pure ints... while a pure str can tank until it crits and a pure int can tank in snow to do enough damage to kill before snow is out, a hybrid has to move around and fight in the "empty spaces" (what I call it for now lol) so they have to attack while avoiding taking too much damage

basically I mean bow has to run/phantom more than kb for room because the kb just buys time and not time+damage, a phantom+explosive arrow (about same time as 2x kb) gives you room to pot as well as a large hit.

a s/s hybrid still has to tank till it gets in kds, but it can phantom then use sword range attacks+shouts to get in some range damage instead of nuking after phantom, spear would be the same.

chinese hybrid builds are extremely ITEM DEPENDENT...

sounds like maybe your weapon and gear is not fully pimped or maybe it's your skills at handling the build.

you'll best show us a pvp vid of yourself and we can comment...and possibly show us your gear too

I can give you some information about my gear.
I have a protector set +5, except for one part, that's +6. It's almost full blued, i'm missing 2 points of Str. The parts that can have +HP/MP, all three have +850HP/MP on it. All parts are having +100% parry ratio. The white stats aren't all that great.
Three parts of my jewelry are +5 and one ring is +6, i'm missing 1 point of Str and 2 points of Int. All jewelry parts have at least 22% phy/mag reinforce.

Currently i'm pretty busy, so i'm not in the occasion to make a video.
