I am a lvl 16 wizard.
I dunno if I should be getting root, combustion, or lightning shock for my wizard?
Are they worth it in later levels?
Are characters able to pill out of these abilities in PvP?
Replies greatly appeciated.
Thanks

Root makes a mob immobile so you can cast more skills before it reaching you, but root effects get canceled if you cast another skill
lighting shock am not so sure=/

all skills that immobilize or slow the enemy are good.
you can stop dangerous mobs, to kill them, or too run.
also, in pvp, when a pure str warrior your lvl comes running towards you, they will 1 or 2 hit you, and if they knockdown, your dead. sooooo, its kinda good to disable them.

I can only speak on root and lightning shock.
Root immobilizes your target, which is good if you need to make an escape from a giant or party mob. However they will be mobile again if you use another skill.
Lightning shock causes fear, which prevents your target from attacking you. I like to use this against champion mobs at my level, as it lets me get in the finishing blows without getting killed.
You can pill out of fear status, and I would assume you can do the same for bind status.
I would recommend getting both of them, especially if you decide to solo grind every once in a while.
Hope this helps.

Yes, lightning tree is nice for casting fear on the party mobs or champs/giants. Also good for the transfer effect. Pills for getting rid of fear are 5k each (<-- is that correct?) I don't buy them yet b/c i'm broke, so those stoopid shell sirenes cast it on me and I have to run away until normal, lol.
Earth - the aoe is nice for finishing off aggro'd mobs. Bind only holds them until you do another move.
Ice benefits you most at start - it's really good for holding mobs at bay while you utilize the range of the 1st book fireball/iceball.
Take them all if you have sp, if not, go fire/ice & you can always pick up earth later.

I just got my wiz to 32 yesterday and i find i dont use status effect moves often. In pvp u will most likely one hit close to your lvl so there is little point in immobilizing a player.
From my limited experience fire/earth/ice are mandatory and light attacks dont bother with there too weak. Fear and teleport are under light tree so if ya want them and i recomend tele keep light spirit up just not attacks.
Also once you get the ice and earth ranged aoe moves id use them and stop lvling the first book moves to save sp, fire u need the first and third but the bomb is questionable i can go hours and never use once, although if your pvping and drop one randomly its funny to see someone run into it accidently and get 1 hit and be like WTF!!!

**EDIT**
Thanks for the replies.
How long is the duration of root level 2, level 3, level 4, etc.?
Should I get lightning shock over root?

but when feared, a mob can still run at u, and attack u when its over
root can keep it far away and u can rain down hell on it

So, in other words, take root over lightning shock (fear)?

You really should take both, in my opinion.
If I had to choose, though, I would go with lightning shock.

Personally, I'd think using them in conjunction would be ideal. I haven't had the opportunity to use them yet, but I'd imagine juggling enemies between being immobilized and feared would prove handy. And there's also knockback from the Lv 20 (edit: is it lvl 20 or 30, i forget) Lightning attack if I'm not mistaken.

Okay....thanks. Open to more discussion.
**EDIT**
Right now, I will stick to only upping root and fear and not combustion.
Since the damage of the lvl 20 lightning nuke is minimal, I will probably only up it one point in order to get the ability. This a good idea?
Also, what do the different levels of fear and root refer to? Does it refer to how long the abilities last?
