Im going with cold .. for the def but why do i need fire then ??

Since Bows are mostly about being able to attack from afar and not get hit, and semi-nice crits

you would obviously want 80 Pacheon for your bow skills

Ice to slow the enemy down with the imbue, not to mention the extra defense if they manage to get a hit on you, and you want that maxed, so 80 Ice

Lightning to make you faster, and parry ratio and such, so you can get away so the enemy can't hit you, therefore 80 Lightning

Fire is somewhat useless, but Bows aren't (In my humble opinion) about damage, but more about crit dealing, and being able to not be hit, but however if they have something to slow you down, like ice, you want fire sheild to get rid of that effect somewhat, and you want the magic defense skills.

Those are my ideas, no flaming please, that's just my opinion.
I'm sure there's many other builds out there that could prove superior to mine, but so far mine has worked oh so well ^^

I disagree with knuckles, unless they fix the fire shield you should not level ice up high.

If you are pure str that is. If you are pure str you allready have enough phy.defense if you take ice to 60. Max fire for the magical defense buffs and lighting for the parry ratio and grasswalk.

if u r a pure int u shouldnt play by bow.
if u r pure str so u will be so storng by bow but u have to lvl up pacheon to llvl80 and fire for 80 and light for 80.
fire imbue have the highest damage , light for being fast .
ice is useless in high lvl becuse if u have a jewelery" earing, necklase and ring" with good blue the ice will not effect on u

why are there options for higher lvl caps if you dont want me to choose them

guys im so confused, before the update hybrid archers were good...but now tht i see pure str archers in action, i dont see the point in beeing hybrid anymore, can someone enlighten me?

I just skimmed and I don't think anyone answered your question yet.

Everyone says fire is a must because it has the strongest imbue. The truth is the imbue hardly has any effect on your damage output. It does about 1-2% more damage then electric, and 2-4%more then ice. In reality that is very little difference.

The reason you want to take fire is for the physical increase buff, and passive. Those 2 skills increase your physical damage by a fixed %.

Other pros to the fire tree is the magic defense buff. Pure str characters lack magic defense so this is extra beneficial.
Fire shield will allow you to be ice immune in you 50s as long as you have freeze reduce on your accessories.
And now there is a new skill to let you see invisible people or something.

As a pure str character you have lots of HP. Because of this most people think you have enough defense so they don't use the cold tree.
The only reason to get the cold tree would be the status effect of the imbue and low level mana shield.
You can't take high lvl mana shield because you don't have enough mana and would run out.

Lightning has grasswalk. We all like to run fast.
parry increase passive, and buff help you take lower damage, and the piercing force buff increases your magic damage(imbue). It wont help you much since you are pure str, but it will help.

So max damage build would be: max pacheon,fire, light. , and then whatever else you want.

Now I use ice imbue and love it. It is best for grinding and pvp against people who aren't immune. Some people max fire and ice and use both imbues. That would be nearly the most damage dealing build except you would have to leave light at lvl 60 so you wouldn't run as fast and would not have maxed piercing force. However that is only something like 2%magic damage difference so on your character probably less than 1% in overall damage reduction.
Of course the problem with 80bow, 80fire, 60light, 80ice Is........ At the 90 cap you would be90bow, 90fire, 90ice, and only 30 light which would make you damm slow. and loose that piercing force buff.

So in the end it is a compromise. You cant have it all

I would personally choose 80 Pach,80 Light,80 Fire and 60 Ice

90 bow/ 80 cold/ 80 lighting/ 60 fire

definately 90 pacehon 90 fire, 60 cold and 60 lightning.
