I got a bard up and running at lv 30, and now I'm wondering if I could use another class.
I've been playing around with Reverse for a Cleric, and that seems most practical. Maybe I could turn it into a Bard/Cleric, but I fear that I'd end up playing as Cleric most of the time. On the other hand, that'd ensure constant leveling parties and stronger armor.

I think you gave the answer yourself
- Cleric makes your character a better buffer
- Wizzard or Warlock gives you the opportunity to explore other aspects of the game
The decision is yours and nobody will / should make it for you.
In my experience playing a cleric/bard the usage of the class evens out (*) since, as Potetgull noted, fully skilled Bards are more rare and parties are looking for them. What's great about the cleric subclass, from a bards perspective, is the ability to switch to cleric, cast Bless, switch back and reactivate your song. If you have a full cleric in your party and maybe a rogue with cleric as his subclass you can have bless activated almost all the time and face really tough opponents.
(*) a factor in this might be, that bard gets displayed as my primary class in the party window, even though I skilled it later than cleric, and people don't expect me to have put many points in leveling the cleric mastery
