he doesn't.

he has to trust the trader to pay him for his job. for escorting him safely to his desination.

the trader can decide to pay or not.

the majority of hunters don't need paying though. or they don't accept payments. they do it for fun. for the profession.

A trader has to agree to pay you. That's the only way a hunter makes money as a hunter.

i was thinking about this yesterday ive never tryed becoming a hunter, but i think it might be fun at times, id sugest hanging around at the traider guild place and advertising for your job, half the payment before half the payment after, but seeing how alot of traide runs dont make very much money then i see the pay being very low, so unless you guard very high lvl transport, u aint gonna become a millionaire, prob best killin mobs for money and items would make u more money

The bad part about hunters is that they dont get money. The fun part about them is that you get to gank lots and lots of thieves. Whether it be CPU or human thief you can gank them all. But I would not reccommend becoming a thief or hunter till a decent level. This is because the higher level thieves and hunters that have been playing for a while will just wreck you.

If you decide to be a hunter at level 20, Player thieves will almost always be stronger then you...so you'll end up dead. What you should do, is become a merchant, earn some gold, then use the gold to buy good equips and level up and then become a hunter.
