There are no GW2 keys, by the way.
The only way someone could get you into the beta was if they gave you their e-mail/password.

You can get keys if you're in SEA instead of waiting on Valve time. Quote: Gamesberry is giving out free dota2 beta keys (single account access, you do NOT get 2 more invites) that can only be activated in the SEA region. Instructions on how to get them here.Just gave a key from them to a friend of mine in Malaysia, and it worked without any problems for him. They will contact you if their stock has not run out. Keys should work in these countries: Brunei, Burma, Cambodia, East Timor, Indonesia, Laos, Malaysia, Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Vietnam Edit: it has been said that these keys can be activated by other methods... but do so at your own risk Edit2: Please do not add me to ask how to activate your keys. Edit3: So, I have had three people try to sell me these keys so far... please don't be one of these people.

I like randoming every game, free courier with the extra gold when people are too stupid to buy courier, or free upgraded courier, or free wards, that 200g is just too good. Just gotta random early so people can pick around you.

just play and watch streams, you'll just naturally get good in 300 games, it's how all games work.

I'd say 300 games is on the low end. I see people with >300 wins who don't know the first thing about laning and probably can't get last hits in a lane without opponents. And that's just 300 wins which means over 600 games.

What's a good way to get a beta key at this point? I play a lot of LoL and this game seems pretty fun too. (Don't wanna start the LoL vs Dota discussion, just wanna try it out)

Honestly I believe that the number of games to be "good" at the game differs a lot from person to person.
If you look around and read guides and put effort into learning the game, it's really not that hard.
You obviously need to play games for muscle memory and the usual problem solving and evaluating the situation, but learning how to properly play the game will only take more than 300 games if you just play games and don't read any guide or watch any videos.

To even be remotely good at this game you need to have played against all the heroes at least once so you know what and who to avoid.

Well thats sad :/... @Skyve, nah dude thats just for the basics, like lane control, denying and last hitting, basic farming tips, keeping a tp scroll and where to tp, rune timings... Etc etc Easy stuff like that, to be a normal player instead of a noob.. Ofc u wont be a "pro" even after 300 games, like lets say Rhasta (shadow shaman), ull be able to chain stun perfectly, but u wont be able to ward trap "perfectly" too, Another example is pudge, u can do some good hooks, maybe fog hooks but hooking a leaping mirana, magina, akasha or puck(which should be the easiest) will be hard, but if ur pro u can do it and 300 games wont be enough... Only if u play 300 games of the same hero lol

I'm pretty sure that's what holds most people back Muscle memory is actually the easiest aspect, at least for me. I have a pretty strong background in Starcraft II, so, learning the game in terms of mechanics isn't much of a challenge. I can last hit well with any hero I've played more than once, but my positioning and my decision making are shit. Also, the people I play with use carry heroes exclusively and BM in russian. If I ping the map, nobody cares. I know I'm bad, but by playing pub games, I don't feel like I'm improving in terms of teamwork, because nobody knows what they're doing.

There is no team work in pubs, either pick a split push hero and win the game by yourself or pick a big team fight hero and as long as your team mates can roll their faces on the keyboard you'll win the game.

Then how am I supposed to play the game properly? At least, when I play SC2, I know I'm not going to rage because people leave the game after they've been ganked once. In DotA, 70% of games, that happens and it's quite infuriating.

^ in Dota2 that doesnt happen.. In dota 1 u should find a good room where people play well.. I still play both Dota1 and 2,
In 1 i play in a room where ull rarely find leavers because usualy pro players host the games and kick any random people (players at are unknown/stupid names) and its working well.
Ull have to play hard games in order to learn, both easy win and stomp games are bad :/,
A hard game is the game where the chance of winning is just 20% or less, even if u lose ull learn smthn..
In 2, i didnt learn dota in dota 2, but here is what i do Start game Say solo mid Random hero Go solo mid Enjoy the game.

What I described is playing pubs correctly, solo mid when you're good is how you play pubs as well when you think (rightfully so) there are 9 idiots in your game. If you mean correctly as in what pros do but at a lower level, get good at pubs first then play in houses or join a scrim team.

Hey guys the International 2 for Dota2 is starting up this Sunday . The total prize pool is 1.6million dollars like last year where $1 million will go to first place. You can support your favorite teams in game also by buying "pennants" which shows your support for the team and also gives you a chance at some items. Go to Dota2.com for more info and check out this amazing tournament
