I downloaded the game from gamershell and extracted everything, but when I go into the setup it say I need to put in some kind of disk because it can't find the files. Anyone know how to fix this?

Yeah, make sure all the files are in the same folder. Then when it asks for the disk, click on the files in order (1a, 1b, 1c, etc). That should work.

I was not in for open beta so the only thing I can relay is what I read on the forums. They nerfed some aspects of some classes, added some content, fixed some bugs. There is some talk of a Druid class, some other races, and some other areas but no eta on any of that.

Thanks, I might install it again soon but im in doubt. The game got kinda booring since I didnt have anyone to play with and I dont know if im up to leveling another character.

Yes we did, though you werent playing all that much. I belive Lana was also playing but I never saw her in game.

Actually you don't have to grind the xp twice (if thats what you mean), you can turn the daily's in on the other class.

Meh, I didn't mind the second round of exping. You had your daily's which helped a lot and since the second time around you knew where everything was you got to enjoy the view a little more rather then just focusing on the mobs and trying to get through as many as you can. :P

This game looks eerily similar to WoW. Almost, I extracted all the textures from my WoW folder and made this game, similar.

ok, so i finaly got the client dl'd and i'm on artemis, but i don't know what class combos are good. just to explore and play around a bit i made a rogue, but i need some sagely advice from das goober or tal.

I was thinking of trying this game out, but i have a few questions.

1. Whats "exping twice" :?
2. Is there a build that is good at soloing?
3. Is partying necessary for quests?
4. Do you get to use plenty of skills? Or just like a few skills and the other is mostly buffing (like Rohan >.>)?
5. Whats the difference between euro/na servers? Does someone from the US have more lag if they play on the euro server?
6. Is it *fun* to play?
7. Are the skills used as smoothly as in sro?

Since i won't be able to play much, i won't be able to party :\

1. Exping twice refers to leveling up the secondary class. Some people do it by switching over to that class and grinding, questing, etc (actually playing the class). While others do the daily quests and turn them in on the secondary class to keep it close to level with the primary (not really playing the secondary).

2. Best solo build is Mage + whatever. There are a ton of mages on the server and alot of soloer's. Mage kills the quickest and can spam aoe's.

3. Partying is not necessary for 90% of the quests, but that 10% is what gets you the damn good item(s) and item sets. As well as running instances.

4. Never played Rohan (at least not that I care to remember). Skill sets aren't bad, there are more then SRO and less then other games (Neverwinter Nights has the most indepth character classes and skill sets in any video game hands down). Mage gets about 6-8 attacks and about 3-5 buffs. Other classes average about the same, my priest has 6 attacks, plus a few I don't use to often.

5. Difference between servers as near as I can tell is the language, they all use the same domain name and I'm almost positive IP Prefix. I don't get alot of lag, but there are times when its bad (like any mmo).

6. Definition of Fun vary from person to person. My definition of fun in a video game is one that requires thought whether it be questing, character building, battle tactics, exploration, planning and building gear, or building finances. If there isn't much thought to it the game won't hold my attention (Unless of course there is a great group of people playing the same game *SRO is a case in point*). That being said, there are so many damn quests its easy to get lost doing them and I love that aspect of this game. Also if you take the time to read the quests and information it has a great indepth storyline, history, and plot.

7. Again one mans definition of smooth is not anothers. I found the interface not to be too mouse user friendly and I still have problems targeting moving mobs (most mobs move very erratically so its hard to click them with the mouse). A few tweaks to the UI via the interface settings, as well as some other game settings and it improved dramatically. There are a ton of addons for this game as well to help in the areas of smoothness, interfacing, communication, quest management, etc.

Crashing at the login screen usually means your system cannot support the game (generally the graphics card). They do have a list of compatible cards you may want to see if yours is listed and then perhaps there may be a fix to the issue.


@Devil, the main site downloader sux real bad as far as speed and corruption. I will be very surprised if the download works at all. Best place so far to get the game has been gamershell.com, it takes about 1-3hrs depending on speed you get and doesn't have the file corruption issues of the other downloads. Downloading and installing seem to be the only "downside" to the game because of all the corrupted links, game patches (about 5-7 patches after download depending on where you got the game), and server settings (Eu download trying to play on US servers and vice versa).


One more note, if you haven't already you have to register on the Frogster US site to play the US servers. There is a link in one of my posts on this thread with a forum thread outlining the registration process at the proper site.

Is the main site downloader a US client or Euro? Atm its at 51% (will take 5 hours more, going at ~100 kb/s), and since i have DSL i'm used to slow downloading. If it goes corrupt I'll try the downloader from gamershell :]. I'll keep the Frogster US site in mind.
