I just need a game that will keep me occupied for a good while (a week or so will be fine) and Steam seems like a good place to get one. However upon downloading steam i had no idea that there were so many games they offered. So i just need some advice on what game to buy. I was looking at Company of Heroes since the other thread had nothing but praise for it but i'm not sure.
Some games I have beaten/played from steam: Portal (loved it) CSS (was fun for a bit) Garry's mod Just Cause Lost Planet Rainbow Six Vegas 2 and I'm not terribly interested in the half life series.

so thats a week no probs ^good choice. I'd see if you can get the HL1 (on source engine) bundled with HL2.

if you want to play in order when you complete highway 17 (in hl2) switch to lost coast play that level then continue, lost coast is a level that was not included in hl2 for what ever reason

emperor3000 wrote: Try TF2, not that i have tried it, but people say its mad fun Hate that game. IMO, TF2 is an FPS for people that don't like FPS. You don't need to know how to pick a guy in the head and control recoil from 200m or anything like that. What I like about FPS is that it's skill based, you need to practice how to aim to be able to truly dominate other players. In TF2, although you need to know the map and little tricks on the map, there isn't really that true skill component.

Maybe not on some public servers but if you meet some real players they would rip you to pieces. StealMySoda wrote: Lol. Wong. 5 pounds is 10 dollars nubcake aw, i wanted to say that :|

Well i gotta say, i regret wasting 20 bucks on HL2. I just don't know why, it just doesn't appeal to me at all. I'm allmost done with highway 17 btw.

Isn't there a project about remaking the whole HL:1 campaign with the new source SDK?

Valve just copied and pasted the game from goldsource into source. These dudes are doing a much better job. Albeit a bit slowly.
