Nightbloom buddy, I have helped coding and coded myself from OTs to Ath servers. If the client is the same as used to play the official SRO, then I'm afraid what you're doing is completely illegal. The clients given by JM are meant to be to play SilkRoad Online, whatever use you give it besides that one, is illegal. That's why most good open source communities are developing several alternative clients.
Oh and, do you really think I deleted... let's say 12:11 and Itonami from my msn just because "they bot"? Do you think I stopped hanging out with my best friend (who I consider a brother) when I found out he bots? Hell no son I don't care if you bot, you're aware you might get banned and you're a grownup, you can take your own decitions. What will you do when you grow up? Team up and kill everyone breaking the smallest of the laws? An old lady tossing a piece of paper to the floor, a kid crossing the road with yellow lights, a dog stepping on the Park grass. Avalon Squad to the rescue! Geez give me a break

The fact that they'll never press legal charges against the project doesn't make it less illegal. Maybe from a programming point of view the servers are completely legal. However in order to comply with JM EULA, which clearly states that the client must not be edited in any form, a differently engined server (which you claim you have) but so far I haven't seen any open sources around.
Fly, Avalon, yes I know you'd get your mums banned for saying " mather fak JM I use no-dc client!" but not all of us are so fked up. For me they are people first and then botters.
The client isnt altered. You never played a private server before? The only thing different on your end is the hosts file and who you connect to.
lol You need to read more.
And for me, they are cheating and should get banned for it. Botters suk.
I am unable to access the SRO official site here at work, so I can't look at the TOS. I vaguely seem to remember reading something in there about only being allowed to use the SRO client to connect to the official servers, and for no other purpose. Granted, it's been a while since I've even looked at the TOS.
As for altered clients, I agree 100%. If you cheat, you should be banned (you in the general sense of course). No-dc, pk2'ing rogue invisibility to see them, making TG the size of ROC... cheating. Botting isn't the only way to cheat of course.

LOL I can tell you are young.
Society and community are based on rules, even small ones. The fact that MOST people follow them are what makes the place you live a pretty nice place. Ever been somewhere where that isnt so? I spent months in India where there are no zoning laws and poor people live in 20 square miles of filth and shanties built outta corrugated metal and cardboard. You are right, one person tossing a paper to the ground is meaningless. No litter or pollution laws made the Ganges river so filthy you can smell it a mile away.
Of course the scale here is much different, but a sliver still hurts a bit even if it isnt the same as getting impaled by a telephone pole. It IS wrong. I dont see a huge outcry for dissolving small laws that are inconvenient.
No one ever said you should stop being friends with someone who bots. Tho Im surprised you used Itonami as an example. I thought the prevailing claim was that it wasnt her? lol It may be just me but I would have seen bot use as a sign of need in my friend and maybe a little help would have prevented another botter being born...but that's just me.
Oh and dont call me son. Not only am I a woman, but Im more than likely a peer of your parents, not you.
Im not going to argue this with you any further. Neither of us is going to change our stance, nor will this convo change someone else's. Have a nice day.

I sure hope they dont ban no-dc people since i know a lot of people who don't bot and still use that to login, since they don't wanna spend money for a premium in the state the game is currently in

In that case, those people will be on Joymax's ban list first hand.

lets hope joymax did learn from their last banlist. i do hope they actually based the bans on grindtimes, repeated movements, same way points to grind area and ofc party invites to invisible chars.

I'm gona lol when this "massive bot ban" turns out to be 10-50 gold botters per server
If they really over do it, then they might actually ban lots of gold buyers but i can tell you right now that they wont ban player bots because then they lose tons of money.

it will be temporary (the loss of money) what will any silk buyer do when they restart? -buy premium -buy sp ticket -buy avatars
that is a lot of silk instantly i believe the amount gained will be higher than the loses due to charge back

Joymax doesnt ban player botters anymore. Besides, go to south dw on any server and you can listen to the botters complaining "if i get banned im quiting this shit, so many lvl 80 blah blah this shit aint worth it"
The people who buy bots are the ones likely to buy silk, and keep buying silk after capped, They still buy premi for log in and the extra stats, they still buy pets, they buy globals, and reverse returns and especially avatar sets. A legit player get to lvl 4x, quits the game, and never buy silks more than 50% of the time.

That's quite possible. Sure, people will get pissed about being banned and chargeback. However, since Joymax was nice enough to warn the botters of the upcoming ban, they'll just store their sun gear in a new character and power level it up to 64+, flooding the system with premium tickets, sp tickets, and avatars, to make the pleveling go that much faster.
I still think they should do these massive bans silently, then post a list after the fact, so we can all see who was banned.

And why is that? its almost impossible to login without one, and there are also people who cant buy silk because of their age/financial situations.
Really, if Joymax used their heads and look into the FUTURE and not right now. What if a new player wants to join silkroad, he can never connect to the server and quit after 5 minutes. The flow of new people coming into this game has reached rock bottom. Looking into the future more people will quit silkroad and there will be no new players, only more gold bots flooding the server. Eventually the only players left are people who play for nothing.

Why should Joymax ban people that modify the client to get around rules/features that they put in place? Oh I don't know...
Just because you don't like how the SRO client operates, or it's inconvenient for you, doesn't mean you can go ahead and modify it to your liking (outside of the actual modification features that Joymax provides to you - aka the in-game options).
Yes Joymax should look into the future, but they should also ban people that go out of their way to try and circumvent controls they have in place.

I didn't say i was doing it, but i can understand people who get sick of taking hours to login.
Besides what kind of a bullshit rule would it be to put a dc message after you cannot connect, other then just a trick to get people buying premium?

I know you weren't saying you do it. I was just responding in general.
I completely agree about the disconnect message. It wreaks of "buy premium or don't play this free game newbie." Sadly, stupid rules are still enforcable.

Want? Do they deserve it? Absolutely. We all know that altered clients are illegal. If you use one knowing what the rules are then the punishment is fitting. And from JM's standpoint, you are cheating them. The last time they did a truly massive ban, it was because there was a mistake in the coding of the atered client and JM could see it. lol I hope it's happened again and all those ppl with all those little 3rd party programs get scrapped.
100% legit is the only way to survive, as it should be. I hope everyone who is cheating chokes on it. I mean that in the nicest way of course.
